Five On Friday! Melted Cheese, Chocolate, and Mommy Bathing Suits

It's time for another edition of Five on Friday and I do hope you'll join along!

Remember, all you have to do is post about five things on your mind, add our logo (found at the bottom of this post), and join the party using the linky tools below. Easy, and a great way to find new blogs and be found. :)

Wednesday night, some neighborhood ladies and I had the BEST time at dinner! We went to Melting Pot which I haven't been to since I was maybe in my early 20s?! But one of the mamas was dairy-free while nursing her son, and now that she doesn't have to follow that diet anymore, we decided to celebrate in the land of melted cheese and chocolate. It was great, we were full, we Ubered there and back, and we just had the greatest time chatting.

Camille's classroom celebrated her birthday on Tuesday and Charlotte and I were able to bring in cupcakes! It was seriously the cutest thing watching their little lunchtime process. Charlotte wanted to be one of the big kids!

My favorite free white noise and sound app released some free meditations on the last update. The app is called Relax Melodies. At the bottom of the screen you'll see a menu that offers meditations -- it has been nice to lay down in bed at night and play one of these 10 minute sessions. It really helps me to focus my mind and not let it wander. You can even set a timer so that it will turn off the music after a certain time if you fall asleep.

I want to order an oil diffuser for our bedroom, speaking of relaxation. Anyone have any good ones to pass along? A version from Amazon is what I'm sort of concentrating on. Nothing too cheap but nothing to break the bank, either.

Something like this:

VicTsing 300ml Cool Mist Humidifier Ultrasonic Aroma Essential Oil Diffuser for Office Home Bedroom Living Room Study Yoga Spa - Wood Grain

or this.

InnoGear Real Bamboo Essential Oil Diffuser Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffusers with 7 LED Colorful Lights and Waterless Auto Shut-off

Does anyone own those or a similar one that you can vouch for? And where do you get your oils?

Lastly, I saw this #imomsohard video on a friend's Facebook page this morning and it is HI-LARRRR. Click over to it on Scary Mommy (here). Moms and bathing suit season. Watch it.

TGIF y'all, and hope you will join in on Five on Friday this week! Cheers to the weekend!

  1. For oils, I got a starter kit with about 10 different scents off of Amazon to see what I liked and since those have run out/I know what smells I want to use I've been restocking from Walmart! I discovered they have huge (relatively speaking) bottles of almost all the popular scents for only $5! Also, TJ Maxx/Marshalls has some from time to time in the beauty section but I found that is hit or miss.

  2. I buy my oils from a doTERRA rep that is FANTASTIC! Her name is Caitlin Bockstanz. caitlinbockstanzdoterra@gmail.com

They are a little pricey but they have great kits plus, it's an investment. They will last longer due to the higher quality than those you can buy at other online stores, department stores, etc.

  4. I got a 2nd diffuser for our bedroom from bed bath and beyond! I got the grey one, it's $59 I believe, but use that 20% off coup! :) I got one oil from bed bath and beyond, i have the starter kit from young living, but I've also bought the better homes and gardens oils at walmart. 4 for $9.97! :)

  5. For diffusing oils (as in not ones I put on my body) I buy from my local organic grocery store. They are a fraction of the "brand name" oils but they smell the same :) Also, I've found some sets at TJMaxx. If I'm going to put the oils on my body, I do buy the more reputable brands. I prefer Rocky Mountain oils and I love them!

  6. Costco actually has a diffuser right now that comes with 2 bottles of oil. (Lavendar and Rosemary, I think).I think it was $29.99. I ordered a diffuser from Amazon a few weeks ago. (before seeing the one at Costco) Here's the link to the one I bought http://amzn.to/2oqWsLt So far, so good. It's nice and quiet, which I was really concerned about. I use Eden's Garden oils and have been for over a year. I did quite a bit of reading before landing on theirs. Here's a link to a good blog post I found about oils. http://www.essentialoilhaven.com/best-essential-oil-brands/ Have a great weekend!

  7. I have the top diffuser and works well in our bedroom. Leven Rose is a great essential oils brand with bigger, affordable bottle options on Amazon. GNC also carries affordable oils and always sends out coupons in mailers. The better quality oils are in the amber colored bottles not clear bottles! Something to keep in mind if you ever put on your body.

  8. I almost got the top diffuser that you listed, but ended up going with a simple all white one that was cheaper, lol! I've heard good things about that one though! Happy Friday!

  9. I ordered the first diffuser for my sister as a gift. It ended up being terrible and didn't mist- just kinda squirted it out every few seconds. I returned it.

  12. I'm a wellness advocate for doTerra and teach classes (online and in-person) and I'd be happy to send you some samples to try out! There is a big quality difference for pure therapeutic grade oils, even for aromatherapy purposes. I've been studying for over 2 years now and I'm fascinated by the chemistry behind them and what makes them effective. I have a bunch of diffusers from dōTERRA, tj maxx and Amazon. The ones you picked have good ratings so go for it!

  13. Hi! I bought this one from Amazon in the winter and LOVE it! It's nothing fancy, but it does the job! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0181XCFKK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
In fact, I bought 2 of them! I get my oils from Melaleuca. They are very inexpensive and wonderful! They have lots of regular oils and lots of nice blends, too.

Also, the dark hair gal in the #imomsohard videos is a really good friend of mine from college! She is hilarious! If they ever bring their live show to your area, you MUST go to it! It is fantastic and so funny!! My sister and I (who both know Kristin from college), went to see them in the fall for a live show and laughed so hard! We were in tears! Seriously, they are a riot! Check out their Spanx video sometime! It's a must watch too!

    Have a great weekend! :)

  14. Love that you've got such a good group of neighbor friends! It makes such a difference! And that imomsohard video is hilarious. Perfect timing as I've been searching high and low for the perfect mom suit. Not much luck so far!

  15. I have the first diffuser you posted. It's awesome! I even bought one just like it to gift to my mom for Mother's Day. I've used it every night for 8 months and no issues at all.

  16. Love your blog! We use Young Living oils, and while their diffusers are more expensive than those on Amazon (or stores), we love our citrus oils, and since they can break down plastic, we wanted diffusers that will hold up to any oils we put into them. Have you seen Jen O'Sullivan's group on FB? It's called "The Human Body and Essential Oils", she's objective and has tested tons of brands and you can learn a lot about why she uses the oils she uses. It's a great group to join! Like anything, there are tons of options and lots of info out there! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
