Weekend: STAYCATION

Several months ago we asked my parents if they could take the girls for the weekend while we had a little Charleston, SC "babymoon" getaway.

Well, then LIFE happened and we just never booked anywhere to stay and every place we looked into was either at capacity or just totally, totally expensive. We were going through a stressful time with just lots of external factors and the thought of packing, driving and battling Friday post-work traffic, paying an arm and a leg for a resort or AirBNB stay ... we just decided to SIMPLIFY.

I still took the girls down to my parents' lakehouse for the weekend and then Ian and I enjoyed what seriously turned out to be the best weekend right here in Charlotte!

Friday afternoon I treated myself to a leisurely stroll through Trader Joes without having to fend off the requests for sugary sweets from my girls. I took time reading ingredients and picking out some fun little TJ's finds.

After Ian was home from work, we refreshed and went to a favorite sushi spot in our area of town. Afterwards we got on the big comfy sectional in our playroom and watched Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Great movie, we both loved it.

Saturday morning we had breakfast together at Dunkin Donuts and neither of us ended up with pink icing and sprinkles smeared on our clothes. WIN.

Afterwards we went to Home Depot, spent time picking out some new plants and items for home beautification, came home and got to work. We worked together to hang some curtains in the garage which will separate off our little home gym area project. I gave our tired front porch planters a nice little makeover with some snapdragons, creeping phlox and teeny daffodils, and Ian planted several more bulbs all over the yard.

I packaged up a dozen LipSense orders and just crossed things off of my to-do list!

That night we shared the grilled octopus appetizer at Vivace and then had the BEST dinner (complete with carrot cake for dessert) at Dresslers.

Sunday morning we enjoyed some coffee, waffles and bacon at home and then drove down to pick up our girls. We were SO happy to see them, and they had the best two nights away.

So, YAY. Lovely little staycation for us, and just the perfect way to reconnect and really focus on each other with zero distractions. We are calling this weekend a total win. Marriage fist-bump!

  8. What a PERFECT weekend! It’s so easy to put your marriage on the back burner with littles running around but it’s SO important to invest in each other... makes all the difference!

  9. We did that a month ago. We spent one night away(using hotel points) and the 2nd night at home. Went to the local meat market and bought food to grill and it was just really easy! No rushing back SUnday morning to get kids or straight back to chaos. We need to do that more often!

  10. For students, one of the tasks that present challenges in their academic lives in the essay. An essay is among the tasks that https://rankmywriter.com/ukessays-com-review follow a student during all levels of study. Instructors insist on writng essays as a way of testing students’ capabilities.
