Five On Friday

It's time for another edition of Five on Friday and I do hope you'll join me, DarciChristina, and Natasha!

Remember, all you have to do is post about five things on your mind, add our logo (found at the bottom of this post), and join the party using the linky tools below. Easy, and a great way to find new blogs and be found. :)

My birthday was yesterday and it was perfect! We had a nice morning as a family and then enjoyed lunch out at one of my favorite lunch spots, Village Tavern. In the afternoon we stopped by two get-togethers that friends were hosting. It was just the way I wanted to spend my birthday -- family time, a walk outdoors, a good lunch, and time with friends. Simple and sweet.

Loving this easy snack idea from Momdot -- freeze applesauce on parchment paper for easy baby snacks. I've been making Camille's baby food (more on this later) and we have a new batch of applesauce that this will be perfect for.

Freeze drops of applesauce on parchment paper. Peel off and it's the perfect snack for your toddler! Homemade fruit snacks.

I'm so excited about a great weekend ahead ... fun lunch plans with good friends on Saturday and with my parents on Sunday. The only downside is that I have to say goodbye to our Christmas tree. Yep, don't judge, but ours is still up. Even though Ian would vote to take it down the 26th each year, my tradition is always to have it up through my birthday. So the weekend following 1/1 is when we take down the tree. Humbug.

Our New Years Eve was absolutely perfect and I have tons of photos to share next week.

Lastly, I'm on the search for a new BB cream. I've used the following so far:
    + Garnier
+ L'Oreal Youth Code (probably my #1 favorite so far)
    + Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer
+ Rimmel (so bad that I'm returning it)

Do you have one you love?
Please share!

TGIF y'all, and hope you will join in on Five on Friday this week! Cheers to the weekend!

  1. I'm so glad you had a great birthday...family celebrations are so much more up my ally these days!! :) I have been using Arbonne CC cream - it's a little pricey ($45?) but lasts FOREVER and works so great. I may have to try L'Oreal, though, to compare!! I hope you have a great weekend! Our tree is still up, too...I've taken everything else down, but the tree is next. Happy Friday!!

  2. i used Tarte BB Cream before becoming obsessed with the Garnier (I see you've tried the Garnier before). It's about $25 and sold at Ulta, Sephora, the usual "hot spots."

happy birthday & happy new year!

  3. Happy Birthday! I always insist that we keep our tree up through New Years. I hate how bare everything looks after we take the Christmas decorates down that I put it off for as long as possible.

  4. Sounds like you had an awesome birthday! We took our tree down on NYE and it just seems so lonely in the living room. Lonely, but clean!

  7. The Maybelline brand BB cream works fabulously and matches well to your skin tone. Isn't greasy at all. Love the applesauce freezer snack! I've tried it with yogurt with great success. I'll have to remember this for baby #2! Thanks for sharing!

  10. Great applesauce idea! Will have to try it as well.
If it helps, we celebrate the Christmas season liturgically, so until the wise men arrive on Ephiphany (next Tues..... The 12 days of Christmas :). Which helps with the transition post holiday time, as well as enjoying & relaxing for vacation time.
And happy birthday!! What a wonderful way to begin a new year!

  12. Happy belated birthday!! Our tree is still up, too! I just hate having to take it down!

  13. I use Smashbox Camera Ready BB cream and I don't think I'll ever go back to anything else! It's so creamy and smooth, and the coverage is awesome

  14. Tarte makes an excellent BB cream! I chose to switch to the tinted moisturizer formula since my skin is more oily during pregnancy but I would definitely repurchase later.I prefer to purchase directly from the Tarte website since they often have specials and coupon codes.

    Happy belated birthday!

I love It Cosmetics Anti-Aging SPF 50 CC Cream. I purchase mine on QVC & am on auto delivery! I also love Philosophy Hope in a Jar Skin Perfecting a to z cream. I switch between the 2 throughout the year.

  20. Love that sparkly top on you! Hope you had a fabulous birthday, love!

I use the Pond's BB Cream and it's my favorite. Like you, I tried many brands and it's the one I've enjoyed using the most! I highly recommend it.

  21. I use Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer but I also like the Smashbox CC. We are Episcopal so we keep our tree up until Epiphany. So glad you had a lovely birthday!

  22. Happy Belated Birthday! I always keep our tree up through the new year, as well. There is so much preparation that goes into the Christmas season, and then it just seems to be over so quickly that I like to extend it a bit!

  23. I knew you looked familiar! I met you at Janet's house on New Year's Day! Happy Belated Birthday and great meeting you!

  24. Dr. Jart BB cream! I got it in a Birchbox over two years ago... it was the only thing I ever started using with that and loved. It's pricey but you don't have to use a lot because the coverage is good so it lasts forever.
