Our Mexico getaway was GREAT. Relaxing, fun, and how about the opportunity to wake up slowly, read a bit, drift back to sleep, slowly make my way out of bed? I haven't done that in over a year and let me just say -- it was heavenly.
As you can imagine, I have plenty of stories and photos to share and will be getting the pictures uploaded in the next few days. Today I just wanted to check in and also share a quick snippet about something that I did (beauty-related) before our trip that was such a great experience.
sidenote ... loved my $18 fedora (here)!
Ian's one of those "get-up-and-go" men ... wait, what man isn't like that? Being a guy is so easy. Hop in the shower, slip on a tee and some shorts, and out the door you go. No hair products to decide between based upon the weather, no lengthy hair-drying/straightening/curling routines, no skincare and makeup regimens, no jewelry to choose between, no frustrating outfit changes.
I knew on vacation that I wanted to adopt that same "get-up-and-go" mantra and just enjoy being low-key and relaxed. I booked a session at our local Benefit Brow Bar (at the Benefit makeup counter in our Belk department store). I had false eyelashes applied!
The lashes they used are done in singles, rather than the big thick strip you may be more familiar with. The singles have a more natural effect and that is exactly what I was going for. I asked Ana to refrain from using any lashes that were unbelievably long and just focus on a thicker row of short/medium lashes that would essentially look like my own eyelashes, just with mascara on them.
The whole process took about 25 minutes and cost $30. It was easy for me to justify spending that since it looked so pretty for our vacation and also allowed me to spend all day poolside without having to worry about my mascara running down my face.
I had mine applied Monday afternoon and they were all off as of Friday morning. Ana just instructed me to be as gentle as I could on them. I was still able to wash my face normally as long as I steered clear of rubbing my eyes or using an oil-based eye makeup remover.
For our nights out, I did often add on a touch of light mascara and some eyeshadow (this one -- awesome in humidity) and just was really careful when taking off my makeup each night.
So there you go ... a quick beauty tip that I just had to pass along based upon my wonderful experience! I have decided I will treat myself to this little splurge again later this summer before a long family beach vacation.
Have you ever had false lashes applied? This was the only time since our wedding that I've treated myself to falsies!
