This past weekend, Ian and I went with friends and their sweet baby to a local pumpkin patch at Hodges Farm. This was such a lovely way to spend the morning, and with it being only about twenty minutes from our home, it is a must for anyone in or around Charlotte!
The farm had all sorts of sweet animals to meet along with a pumpkin patch, hayrides, pony rides, and other fun activities for kids.
They had two very long rows of pumpkins right off the vine. Big, fat, smooth, bumpy, and all hues of orange. I always choose an odd pumpkin -- it's just not my style to go with a "perfect" pumpkin. :)
Where did you get your pumpkins as a kid? Church pumpkin lots were our go-to.

I grew up in a town with four working farms. I *always* got pumpkins direct from the source! :) (And apples directly from the tree in autumn!) It's so hard to do from NYC but I can't wait to go to a real life pumpkin patch again someday.

We went to the same pumpkin patch on Sunday and it was HOT! I think we spent 90% of our time there with those sweet little pigs!! We ended up not getting any pumpkins because I wanted quite a few for decorations and carving, and didn't realize how much more they were there.. Oops! I wrote a post too about our trip! :)

We used to love growing pumpkins on our farm when I was little - and picking them out as I got older there or at a neighboring farm. Fall on the farm was always beautiful with the horses and the many different activities going on throughout the property. I often miss it!

ReplyDeleteI can't believe you have never been to a pumpkin patch until now! You will never get a pumpkin anywhere else...or at least you will make a trip to the pumpkin patch to at least get one:) So fun!
ReplyDeleteYour first pumpkin patch trip?! Crazy!! We had a pumpkin patch/farm right near our house growing up, and each fall, our entire family would have a fall picnic there. They had hayrides and they best apple cider ever!
