Food Obsessions

When I find a new food item that I love at the grocery store, I jump in to an obsession with both feet.  Like, full fledged convert, bordering on cultish behavior at times?  Okay, maybe I went too far there, but I'm not exaggerating THAT much.

Take for instance, my drug of choice.

Ben & Jerry's Creme Brulee ice cream, i.e. the sole reason I've kept those extra 4 lbs on my frame.  If you are a lover of creme brulee and that sweet cracking caramelized sugar topping, you'll be head over heels for this.  It has ribbons of the crunchy caramelized sugar RUNNING. THRU. IT.  The ice cream itself is a sweet custard base.  Honestly?  It is maybe the best thing I've ever eaten.

My breakfast on work mornings is often Greek yogurt.  I prefer it over normal yogurt, and it's full of protein to keep me full until lunchtime.  My favorite Greek yogurt of all time is the Dannon Oikos honey on the bottom brand.  Coming in with a well-deserved honorable mention, however, is Chobani's Honey-Nana yogurt from their Champions line.  Yep, it's technically a kid's brand I think, but still delish.  You can even top it with a few banana slices.

I did spy some pretty delicious pumpkin-flavored liquid coffee creamers at the grocery store the other day, and that will be my next purchase.  Until then, I've been loving the International Delight Cinnamon Dolce Cream flavor.  It's extra cinnamony and is super tasty in my ........

.... iced coffee that I have been loving each morning!  I brew this in our Keurig coffeemaker.  In my plastic insulated cup, I add ice up three quarters of the way.  Then I just brew the coffee (hot) over the ice.  I let it sit for a while and then add creamer, a pack of Splenda, and more ice before heading out the door.  Usually in a complete and frantic hurry, might I add.

I know I've talked a LOT recently about the sweet potato fries that we are head over heels with (the brand, if you are interested, is in this blog post, and best of all, they come right out of the freezer!) and part of the reason we chow down on them so wildly is because of this ... H. T. Traders Chipotle Ranch Dressing.  H.T. Traders is a line at our Harris Teeter grocery store.  We pour some of this into a teeny (okay okay, medium sized) bowl and dip to our heart's content.  I haven't yet tried to use it as a salad dressing, but am totally envisioning a Southwestern salad with black beans, red peppers, corn, and lettuce.

I'm not a vegetarian and I'm not a vegan, but you know this by now based on all of the pictures I post of our Sunday night meals -- most containing snapshots of thick, juicy burgers or super-cheesy enchiladas.  Oh, and that insane creme brulee ice cream.  But with that said, I do have several meatless meals and even meatless days, especially during the work week.  After reading Skinny Bitch a few years back, I was just convinced that there was merit to reducing the amount of meat I was consuming, for health reasons, environmental reasons, and of course, the wellbeing of those snuggly sweet farm animals.

Kashi's Mayan Harvest Bake is like a guilty pleasure for me but with no real reason to feel guilt.  It's not just vegetarian, it's VEGAN, and it is filled with healthy whole grains, protein (black beans), fruits (plaintains) and veggies.  I love throwing one in my lunch cooler and heading out the door, knowing that after a few minutes in the microwave, I've got a really healthy lunch waiting for me.

Have you tried any of these items?  What are you loving right now, food-wise?  Do you also exhibit crazy cultish bandwagon behavior as well when you find some new food you're lusting over?  Please say I'm not the only one.  Please?!
