This is my last week out of town until the new year, so I know if I can just push through this week, I will be a-okay. Head down, focus on the job, and hopefully the week will fly by.
The highlight of my week will be Wednesday night, when I get to meet one of my best girlfriends and her husband for dinner out. I just need to focus on that fun part of the work week! If it wasn't for that exciting dinner date, I would definitely be having a tougher time with being away.
Do you travel for work? If so, what do you think about it ... do you welcome it or not so much? If you have a job where you don't travel, do you think you'd enjoy it?
Super timely post as I am embarking on two week work trip to Rome tomorrow evening. (I know, I know, poor me, but it is going to be oodles of nonstop work the entire time.) Trying to get into the mindset / get my act together... and not overpack! Looking forward to seeing dear friends at the end of the trip :)
ReplyDeleteSending good thoughts your way! I hope this week goes well and quickly for you. I don't travel for work, but I'm such a homebody that it's perfect for me. Soon Friday will be here!
ReplyDeleteI stay home with our son and I couldn't imagine having to leave him to travel for work -- although I do kind of envy the people who get to grab a coffee / drink at the airport and read some magazines / books uninterrupted!
ReplyDeleteI have worked for some pretty international companies. Two jobs ago, I went to London and Hong Kong, and my last job which was based in London brought me to the UK a few times. Otherwise, it's really JM who does the heavy travel lifting. It's nice when he's away sometimes since I can do all my silly girl things, but I am a homebody to the max and miss him terribly when he's away for a long stretch.
ReplyDeleteI use to do more traveling but not anymore. The bank has cut back on travel b/c of budget. Where are you?
ReplyDeleteI don't travel for work, but I don't think I would like it if I did. At least not know. Belle, one of my best friends travels at least 2 entire weeks out of the month. Recently she was gone for a whole month and a half. Home for a day or 2 and then off again. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteI feel you! I have to go to Anchorage tomorrow for work and I am dreading it. The last place I want to be right now w. so much going on. At least you have a dinner date to look forward to! Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteI like traveling for work every now and again, especially if it's to cool places, but not too much. Everything in moderation I suppose! Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteWell you know how I feel, ha! I like that it's only a day or two a week but it is every week without fail. Not sure how it'll work when we decide to have children. For now, it works for me/us.
ReplyDeleteLucky you that you are almost done until January! Is your traveling always certain months of the year? Enrollment times?
I don't travel for work but when I go out of town without my husband I always get a little sad. Especially at night...that's when I miss him the most :(
ReplyDeleteAhh we are so much alike sometimes! I'm actually gearing up for a 4-day trip starting in about, oh 20 minutes, and I'm definitely a little sad about it. I eased back my travel significantly during my first trimester because I was so sick, but now I feel great so its back on the road! It's just really hard to leave the hubs, the pup, and the house (especially when I have it decorated so cozily and life is so good!) BUT, I bought myself a new scarf, made plans with friends where I'm traveling, decided upon a few stores i want to visit while in town, and am allowing myself a trip to Starbucks while heading south this afternoon :) It's the little things!
ReplyDeleteI used to travel a TON but not much anymore. I didn't mind it because my husband and I both worked so much that it (sadly) didn't matter if I was home or not. Now we've switched and my husband travels about 50%. Although it's not ideal, over the years we have earned enough skymiles and hotel points to cash in some pretty amazing free vacations - together! - to make up for it. Definitely has its pros and cons! Good luck this week, you're almost home :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband travels for work and hates it! Makes me sad when he is away. And although I don't travel I am on a train for an hour each way everyday. That is getting old!
ReplyDeletei definitely get weeks like this. I just have to remind myself that I am racking up the hotel points. :)
ReplyDeleteNext week I am traveling the entire week. UGH!
I don't travel for work right now, and I'm a total homebody so that totally works for me. I wouldn't mind the occasional trip, though, because I do like to see new places and try new things. Good luck on your current trip! :)

I'm sure it makes being home that much sweeter! We used to do the long distance thing prior to marriage and I sort of can understand. We travelled every single weekend (except 1) for almost 2 years to see each other. Now I rarely travel and the only times Stephen would need to are for conferences/family friendly trips. I can't remember when you said you were heading our way?
ReplyDeleteHate when my hubby travels for work! Especially now that we have a baby!
ReplyDeletepick up a good book, magazine and catch up on some shows!!! oh and it's Wednesday : )
ReplyDeleteWhen SK and I got married, I was working for a big 4 accounting firm and out of town ALL the time. I came in on weekends to do laundry and headed out again. It really felt like we were roommates until I found another job. I travel for work only occasionally now and I actually enjoy it. And I always take my sunless tanner. Thanks for that brilliant tip. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been doing a lot of traveling for work and the long days have definitely been wearing on me! I know how you feel! I definitely enjoy seeing new places but it definitely can be hard spending life in a car! good luck getting through the week and hope you have a fun weekend to relax! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting about the monogram necklace! Just ordered one for myself. :)
