Weekend In Rewind

What's better than driving home at 5pm on a Friday?
That's a pretty great feeling.

Made even better when your husband calls to invite you out for a happy hour drink to get the weekend started off right!

Selwyn Pub was our locale of choice -- a true Charlotte classic.

Saturday we visited the two places we seem to single-handedly keep afloat (Lowes and Home Depot, duh).  One flower-filled SUV later, we were on our way home to beautify our front yard.  We spent hours in that yard digging, planting, watering, pruning.  And then we enjoyed a nice pre-dinner drink together on the back patio.

We had an awesome dinner that night at Leroy Fox with some new friends.  Like, literally new friends - we were sitting next to them at the restaurant bar, struck up a conversation with them as we waited for our tables to be readied, and then they invited us to join them at their table for dinner.  Completely random, but we had the BEST time and will definitely plan to see them again!

Sunday we finished the first season of Homeland and then promptly called to order the HBO/Showtime package so we could immediately start season two.  Obsessed, I tell you.

Plus now, Ian gets his Game of Thrones fix and I get my Girls fix ... a win-win!

We said sayonara to the weekend with lettuce wrap burgers and sweet potato fries.  Oh, and several more Homeland eps.  We're all in, guys.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend, too!

  4. The patio does look super fabulous! I need to get some things planted this week and get our patio spruced up.
I told Brad we need a 'real set' of patio furniture but he still claims our deck isn't big enough. I don't agree.

  8. You and Ian (and Drake!) are so adorable. Good on for all of your hard work in the yard. We did our initial clean-up from winter and re-mulched a bit. I have no clue about planting even though my mother and grandmother are master gardeners. Isn't that sad? Your patio looks wonderful - perfect spot to relax!!

SO glad y'all started watching Homeland. It is the BEST! The only suggestion I have for you is ration out the second season if you can (I know it's a hard task!). It's going to be a long six months until September when the next season starts again! Who do you think is the mole?! Haha!

  16. Isn't Homeland amazing? The second season is playing in Italian TV now, so we're LOVING IT. We bought the whole first season on iTunes about 2 months ago and watched it all in a week! Also- We saw a dog just like yours running through the snow last weekend and it was having SUCH A BLAST! Made me think of y'all!

  17. Your patio looks so cozy and I am very jealous of that. My backyard currently consists of an oddly tilting patio floor and old kitchen chairs, but we are getting ready to fix it all up. :) I'm hoping to end up with a nice little extension to the house like yours that is perfect to hang and entertain. Thanks for sharing!

  18. You have a great-looking patio, April. It actually looks like a balcony with how it's separated from the garden. I like how you incorporated some plants in the layout. I think it gives off a sense of intimacy, and I can see why you and your husband enjoy hanging out there. Having said that, you just gave me a great idea for redesigning my patio. I hope the wife would love it as much as you do yours.
