Weekend In The Mountains, Part I

So Ian turned the big three-three this past weekend, and we celebrated in the mountains of Boone, NC.

Friday night after work, Ian and I headed to his family's house (same place where we got engaged).  We got in around 8:30 or so ... just enough time to grab some groceries, get settled in at the house, pour a glass of wine, and get cozied up to watch Dateline.  And then get hit with the realization of -- wow, we are officially old.  Whatevs, we loved it.  :)  No better way to spend a Friday.

Saturday morning, we started getting ready for our friends to arrive in town to celebrate with us.  Saturday was Ian's actual birthday, and I'd brought up his present as well as the birthday cards that arrived in the mail earlier that week.

His mom, my mom, and I all went in on a big surprise for him ....

An iPad!  He is so excited to use it for Angry Birds work.  And now we can use Face Time when I am out of town!

Then we had a little coffee break on the patio.  I've officially made the switch from Coffeemate's Pumpkin Spice creamer to the Peppermint Mocha creamer ... which comes in a sugar-free version!  Okay, so I know I'm ingesting chemicals out the wahzoo, but I try to ignore it.

Look at him looking all studly in this picture.  He was actually on the phone with his sister, you just can't see the phone.

And then we got ready for our friends to arrive in time for brunch.  I made two bacon cheddar quiches and cinnamon rolls.  The house smelled wonderful and we were ready to start celebrating!

More pictures to come tomorrow for the rest of our mountain weekend recap.  Including some pictures that Ian sent me from his phone with the subject line "My Gun Wielding Wife."
