It's time for another edition of Five on Friday and I do hope you'll join along!
Remember, all you have to do is post about five things on your mind, add our logo (found at the bottom of this post), and join the party using the linky tools below. Easy, and a great way to find new blogs and be found. :)

First things first, pausing to remember the REAL reason that we all are "#blessed" with this beautiful long weekend before us. Memorial Day is a day to remember the fallen, those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Think about it for a second ... isn't it the saddest thing if we just focus on SALES SALES SALES without taking a moment to remember those killed in action fighting for our freedom? What a disservice to those who lost loved ones. So I'm choosing to still enjoy this long weekend, dress my girls in red white and blue, maybe even make a little patriotic dessert with strawberries and blueberries and whipped cream -- but I will definitely choose to remember the reason that we are able to do so!

Starting Sunday night, Charlotte has been sleeping in her crib! I was a little nervous about that transition since she spent her first five weeks sleeping in a rock and play, but she has done beautifully! We're typically up around 3am and 6am so she can eat, but she's sleeping great on her back in the flat crib and that makes me SO happy.

Today is my sister's due date! Little Thompson has yet to make his debut, but I just can't wait to get that call! Hurry up, Tompie! You have an aunt that is ready to meet you!

Any hot roller users out there? I have a VERY old set that I used the other day. It probably needs replacing though. I've looked at a few options on Amazon and am thinking about this one that has pretty good reviews! Does anyone use this one or a different one that you'd recommend?

Tomorrow is our five year wedding anniversary! We are going out to dinner to celebrate at the same restaurant where we had our first date. I can't wait for some great husband and wife time.
TGIF y'all, and hope you will join in on Five on Friday this week! Cheers to the weekend!
So happy to hear Charlotte is sleeping well in her crib!! And I use my ANCIENT hot rollers to do my hair multiple times a week! Love them! Happiest Anniverary to Ian and you- hope you have a wonderful dinner date tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThat's great Charlotte is sleeping in her crib!! I love some Hot rollers. I have the do air jumbo set and they work great with my long hair! Have a great weekend and fun celebrating your anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of getting some new hot rollers. I think the ones you linked to would be great since they have clips that go around the roller instead of the pins that don't seem to hold very well.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! How exciting! I don't have a very good set of hot rollers, but I love them. I don't know why more people don't use them! ~Hannah (www.HannahAtHomeBlog.com)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking the other day your hair looked particularly fabulous on Snapchat! That's a great look for you. Happy early anniversary! We are celebrating our 5th anniversary in two months -- I didn't realize we got married so close together!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Enjoy your celebration! And thank you for remembering those who are serving (or have served for our freedom).
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I was going to linkup today but the LInkytools is missing from your post! :( It was there when I looked a few minutes ago!
ReplyDeleteMy mom has those hot rollers and they work great!! Happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary and hopefully your nephew hurries up!! So exciting!!!
ReplyDeleteI have that hot roller set- the clips are awesome and it really does heat up quickly! My only wish is that it came with more medium-sized rollers, but I think if you like a certain size you can actually buy some separately from Conair to add to your set.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great anniversary, sweet girl! And thank you for remembering to note the real reason for this holiday weekend - because you are SO right. It does tend to get lost amidst fun plans and super sales, which is definitely sad and definitely not the reason this holiday exists in the first place!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! As a military spouse, I appreciate you taking the time to remember the real reason for the long weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and thank you too for the reminder for why we have Monday off.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday! We are just transitioning our little into his own room this weekend and I am feeling so bittersweet about it! And happy happy anniversary! What a fun way to celebrate!
ReplyDeletethank you for your #1 item! i wish more people remembered what memorial day means, and didn't wish a "happy" memorial day weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love what you said about Memorial Day. I think people get a little too caught up in the 3-day weekend BBQ-scene that they forget about the reason for the extra day off :) Not that I'm against having fun but taking a moment or two to remember those who have fallen and their families who have to continue on without them, is always a great way to pay tribute. Have a great weekend and Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about hot rollers bc I set them and forget them! Ha- seriously I find them very low maintenance because I'm hands free to put on makeup or deal with my children/laundry/cooking what have you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I haven't used my rollers in a long time... but I have had the Conair Instant Heat Volume Rollers (5 large rollers) for years and it does the trick.
ReplyDeletehappy anniversary!!! we just had our 8th!! love a june wedding :) :)
