Snooooooow all over Charlotte, you guys! Real, sleddable snow.
Day 1 my girls were totally unsure of it, and my double-black-diamond loving hubby was like WUT. We needs to get these girls acclimated to some SNOW.
But by day 2 they were having a lot more fun, Camille at least, and Char (who is still not walking solo yet) was happiest standing in place near mama or sitting in my lap watching the big kids sled down the hill.

Random $3.99 Homegoods find! I found these watermelon-flavored water "juice boxes" at the ol' HG the other day and we decided to bring them home. The girls didn't slurp them down as fast as they'll take down the Mott's low sugar apple juice boxes, but I'm hoping they will develop a taste for them. I think especially on a warmer day at the park with a picnic lunch, it'll hit the spot.
I finally purchased a cute new iPhone case! I kept looking around for an inexpensive one at Marshalls and Homegoods and finally decided to get the one I just ... wanted. Last Friday night at Nordstrom I pulled the trigger and bought this gorgeous tortoise case, spending more than I would have liked, but I just love the classic tortoiseshell look. #worthit #noregrets

This weekend's operation: CLOSET ORGANIZATION.
Months back I shot a series of embarrassing Instastories showing the true state of my walk-in-closet. I think closets are like purses; the bigger they are, the more glamorous they seem, but the more STUFF you end up STUFFING in them.
Well, I cleaned up my closet, and it's back to disaster zone status, holding avalanching piles of folded clean clothes and jewelry from high school and old magazines. Unless someone advises me otherwise, I'm ordering THIS pack of 12 clear boxes to put shoes I rarely wear in so they can come off of my floor and go up on a shelf. I mean, my wedding high heels are seriously laying on my floor as we speak -- no bueno. Seriously, if you have a better shoe storage solution, let me know fast before I order these!

Oh man, I so need to get those storage boxes for our closet (and the boys' closets). Y'all are so cute in your snow day pictures; I'm so jealous that we haven't gotten ANY snow in a long time. ReplyDeleteThe same storage boxes are sold individually at Target, usually for less than a dollar which would be about half of the amazon listing! They carry a larger size too. I just bought a ton of each size so I had them when organizing and returned what I didn’t use.
ReplyDeleteI love organizing, especially closets, and find that pregnancy is the best time to do it. Hello nesting! I pull everything out of my closet and only put back in stuff I can wear pregnant from beginning to end (non-maternity and maternity). I realize I enjoy the simplicity of having less options. I split the rest into spring/summer, fall/winter and year round pieces (light sweaters, favorite jeans, basic Ts). I go through each group and sort out items to get rid of. Then I box up what’s left in big clear storage containers split into my 3 categories and labeled. Usually my year round pieces box is small since I can wear my sweaters pregnant. Also, in the box I’ll pull out post-baby (for you summer) put nursing friendly tops and forgiving shorts toward the top of your box. Then you’ll know what you need more of post-baby and it will be easy to access when it’s time to pull the box down. I then store my newly organized boxes in storage or in my master closet if there is room. I don’t hang anything up I can’t wear, I prefer the empty space vs. sorting through and not being able to wear. Also, use this closet overhaul time to pair down shoes, bags, accessories. For storage I like the clear 3 drawer boxes for things like flats or flip flops, yoga pants, workout tops and foldable things like sweaters that get stretched out. Use the individual boxes you have above for nicer shoes. I’ll try to post a link. Then label each drawer with what’s inside. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteI just bought shoe boxes similar to those a few months ago at bed bath and beyond and it's help so much! I say go for it. I like the container store ones but the price was just too much for shoe storage boxes. All the closets in my house need help right now! So much stuff stuffed in them, it's bad. So happy you all have gotten to enjoy the snow!
