Checking In and Editorial Calendar ... HA

Although spare time is rare these days, I truly have missed regular blogging! This is such a nice creative outlet for me, and more than anything, a way to connect with other women (whether I know you personally or not).

So I did want to check in quickly and let you know that life is GOOD 'round these parts -- not easy or sleep-filled or stress-free or lazy -- but it's good.

Charlotte sleeps a lot and eats a lot and is just easy and adorable. My biggest goal each day is to have some sort of fun activity for Camille so that she still feels special and adored. Today was our first real outing together ... the three of us went to Camille's little gymnastics class at My Gym and then even braved the grocery store afterwards.

I was tempted to skip the My Gym class since it requires parent involvement, but I figured we may as well jump in sometime and just embrace our new normal. And it went great! I posted lots of videos on Snapchat (@alizadventures). Thank goodness for the JJ Cole carrier I had with Camille which actually made that class doable. You can find this on Amazon (here) and it's seriously the easiest carrier I've ever used, and I think it looks nice too. Very streamlined, and dare I say ... chic?! The main part slips right over your head like a t-shirt, so there's no involved wrapping and twisting and origami folding necessary.

Okay, so onto the "editorial calendar" part of the blog post title. I am using that phrase in a very non-serious, comical way. Back at one of my former jobs, we put out a monthly e-newsletter and had editorial calendar meetings to plan out the topics of discussion. So ... in a more casual way, and to help me not publish 723695 blog posts in a row about delicious newborn toes and neck rolls, I wanted to turn to you and see what you may like to hear me discuss. I have never really done this, and I know part of the fun of checking into a blog is to see what the blogger decided to post about that day, but if there's anything that you're thinking "hey, I wish April would write about XYZ," then I'd love to know what that XYZ is! So, leave a comment below or email me (alizadventures@ymail.com) with any ideas you may have!

I'll be back tomorrow for FIVE ON FRIDAY, and man it feels good to say that! Ciao!

  1. Agree with the poster above--your birth story! I'm also very interested (perhaps selfishly as I'm now 5 months along w/ pregnancy #2--another girl) in how you balance/enjoy/find challenge in having 2 little ladies!

  2. I second the birth story!
As a mom of a toddler, I love reading the posts about the activities you do with Camille and also what she eats. I struggle with finding healthy options for my little guy and love to hear what other moms are coming up with. You are so inspiring and I'm so happy for your little family!
    Well wishes from Missouri!

  9. Congrats on the little nugget. She is beautiful!

Now that I will be trying to have a baby, I'm always curious as to how hard it was for a couple to get pregnant. Did the couple wing it? Did they use an ovulation kit? Did the woman take her temperature every morning? Did it take longer or shorter than expected? I know it may be TMI! But that's what I'm usually wondering...Enjoy your little newborn!

  20. I just love your blog! So excited to read about your adventure with 2. I love when you post little tips and tricks of products you find that you love - such as the baby carrier. Checking that out on Amazon after I hit send 😝 I also love your posts about finds at Aldi, toddler meals, and I love when you post recipes! You are so much more creative with easy sides then I am and I love the inspiration!

  22. Definitely your birth story with Charlotte! Also, going from 1 to 2 and any tips you have for that would be great! (I just ordered that carrier; thank you! We are having #2 in a few weeks and I'm nervous as all get-out and think that carrier will help me to move around with our two-year-old a little better!)

  23. I agree with Charlotte's birth story! I'm dying to come meet her...I'll text you so I can bring you all some snacks or breakfast foods or whatever you need so I can come get some baby snuggles in! :) Also for selfish reasons, I would love to read about your thoughts on the second baby now that she is here...like a follow-up to your previous post about your worries before she got here. Oh and also a post on things I need to get for this second baby that maybe I haven't thought of yet. And also how Camille is doing and if you have tips/tricks for getting E ready for her baby brother!

  28. Your recipes always look amazing, yet simple, so I'm requesting more of those! And a city guide to CLT would be awesome, too. I'm down there for work quite frequently and I'm always looking for places to eat, shop and enjoy myself!

  30. I might not be any help here, but definitely your birth story! And I think posts about delicious newborn toes and neckrolls are wonderful. :) I found your blog when I was on maternity leave with Avery and you had just had Camille, and just loved "getting to know" you guys through your blog! <3

  31. I got the JJ Cole carrier for this go round and I'm LOVING it! Tell wants to be held all the time so it's been a life saver. I had the k'tan for Lawter and felt too dumb to use it so never had much success with baby wearing. Maybe because I'm in the same boat, I love baby updates and pics and just life lately stuff! Glad everyone's doing well!

  34. Can you write about the decision to quit your job? I'm having such a hard time juggling work and a toddler. It kills me, but I sort of like the business of the work day and the adult interaction. Conference calls feel a bit more fulfilling than forcing my 23 month old to eat her peas and carrots. BUT I want to be home! I feel like I'm missing out on fleeting years that I'll never get back. We're not financially in a place that would make it easy to quit. We'll have to live on some savings, and change is scary. You made the jump, and I'd love to know your feelings on it.

  35. I love birth stories and settling into life with two. I have twins and I love reading mommy type posts. It helps me relate, plan if we have more and see how other women do it. And if you have any toddler eats recipes that would be amazing. I want to sneak in veggies into my girls meals more and I need ways. So recipes please! Congrats on Charlotte. She is beautiful!
