Maybe I'm just getting older, but I find myself gravitating toward nicer and more "pretty" candles rather than just the run-of-the-mill candle. And if a higher quality candle costs a few bucks more, I spring for it. A soy candle, for example, often costs a bit more, but has a stronger smell and therefore lasts longer for me.
Bond No. 9 New York New Haarlem Candle/6.4oz / Bond No. 9 New York Madison Soiree Candle / CREED Les Floralies Candle / DwellStudio Home Candle Moroccan Tea / CALYPSO PERFUME PROD INC. LAVANDE bougie parfumee / Jo Malone™ Pomegranate Noir Home Candle / Diptyque Roses_Floral candle / Cire Trudon Odalisque lemon and orange scented candle
As I've mentioned before, I'm also a fan of this often-repinned idea with rosemary, lemon, and vanilla.
And for the holidays, I'll be eagerly awaiting the chance to give this simmering pot recipe a try:
Are you a candle lovin' gal, or do you like to whip up your own home simmering scents? Or, like me, are you a complete sucker for both?
I've never tried the simmering pot, but what a great idea! Have you ever had the volcano candle from anthro? It's purely amazing, I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love candles, my favorite are the pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon candles during fall and winter. It just makes a house feel so homey!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried the simmering pot. I might have to give it a try soon! I love candles, though. I always light one when I get back from the gym at night and love that the scent will linger all night and through the next day.
ReplyDeleteI love a good pumpkin candle! And pine for around the holidays!
ReplyDeleteI love candles too! I think I light them at least once a day in our house. B&BW's 2/$20 is my favorite promotion and I like to stock up then. I do like to splurge on nicer candles every now and then too though. My favorite is Trish McEvoy's Wild Blueberry Vanilla sceneted candles! Delish!!!
ReplyDeleteI've seen the simmering pot thing a few times but have never tried it. I am a huge fan of the Capri Blue Volcano candle from Anthro, it smells amazing. I might switch it up for a fall scent if I can find one I like.
ReplyDeleteBoth!!! I *LOVE* the grapefruit Jonathan Adler candles from SoulCycle and JM digs the bright fresh scent, too. The more floral stuff is NOT his bag, so I have a gorgeous soy gardenia candle I burn when he is away. I LIVE for gardenias so it was a real treat to find :)
ReplyDeleteIn terms of simmer? Apple juice with lemon and herbs/spices is always a super easy one
definitely will be trying a simmering pot this season!!
ReplyDeletei'm also obsessed with nice candles - my current fave is the pink citron from voluspa!
I've never made a scent at home! I definitely want to try it out sometime and maybe even gift them as presents to friends. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteYum. My mom always does the simmering pot thing and I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love nice (i.e. not cheap!) candles as well. They absolutely do smell better and last longer, and are totally worth the money to me. I always feel the need for different scents in different rooms. "Stella" by Tocca is my favorite for bedroom and bathroom. We were just gifted a Nest candle that I can't think of the name of - but it's a non-gender-specific scent if you will.
ReplyDeleteAnd the absolute BEST is the candle Ralph Lauren puts out at Christmas. It comes in a plaid box. It is THE best smelling candle. We get one a year and burn it almost every night between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It makes the whole house smell divine.
I want to try the simmering pot. Last year I had an apple cider night and made a huge batch of apple cider with mulling spices and dark rum - it smelled like fall.
I love candles but I always forget to light them! Not gonna lie, fire makes me a little nervous... love The Doors lyrics, by the way! :)
ReplyDeleteI have an addiction to candles. I always buy them, but accumulated way too many, so I put myself on a candle buying freeze. I'm happy to say I have almost cleaned out my stash! ready to stock up again for fall/winter!!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOOOOVE this post. I simmered my first pot of oranges, cinnamon sticks, cloves and cranberries last weekend and it was divine. And I agree, a good candle is worth the splurge! You should totally host a candle swap!!!
ReplyDeleteI want to light candles as soon as the weather turns too! There's just something comforting about delicious smells!
ReplyDeleteI am a true candle lover but after seeing this post I can't wait to make my first simmer pot. Great post!!
ReplyDeleteI need to try the simmering pot! Cloves is one of my absolute favorite smells!
ReplyDeleteI am also on the hunt for a new fall candle...I had a bit of one leftover from last year and it is already gone!
The simmering pot works wonderfully. I usually end up doing it in the winter becasue it lets more heat into the room. I'm all about some lovely, good smelling candles. Ok, you said you were doing these things in polyvore, but how are you doing the numbers/text? Educate me!
