The Most {un}Happy Place Ever

Close your eyes, and think of a place you don't like to be.

{..................................................................................}

Did everyone think of the DMV??

Me too!

But that's where I got to spend quite a bit of my day on Tuesday afternoon.  An hour waiting in line outside of the building, 20 more minutes waiting inside, and 15 minutes going through the actual license renewal process.

Maybe I was salty.

Okay, I totally was.

Reason being, I had to give up the best license picture in the history of man.

Come on, you have to agree with me.  Right?!

Grocery store clerks, bartenders, even the TSA officials at the airport ... they all have paused mid-license check to let me know that I had a fabulous drivers license photo.

It was taken when I was 22, and it's now been eight years.  Time for a renewal.  I was all jazzed to receive my new license, right in time for my flight out this Friday to New York with my girlfriends, only to find out that this DMV doesn't give it to you right away -- they mail it to you in 7-10 days.

Ya'll please keep your fingers crossed for another fabulous license photo?  I'm waiting in impatient anticipation.

I wore a bright peony pink cardigan and a colorful necklace this time.  Mainly so that during the timeframe I have this license, 30-38 years old, I still look like a young fun gal.

Is that so crazy?

  1. HAHA!!! Awesome post! I got a new license when I got married and was shocked that they mailed it to you too.
My new photo is REMARKABLY good! People comment on it now. I'll have to show you next time we meet up. I wore a fun, wide headband and it really stood out :) Good luck and have fun in NYC!!

  7. Um yeah. Can we talk about how North Carolina has this crazy idea that sending your ID in the mail helps PREVENT id theft... rather than just handing it to you personally?? WTF! My latest picture was horrible when I went to change my name and I was bummed. I also had one (in college) that was a super pic and I was sad to give that one up!

  9. my last picture on my license was the same way - awesome. When I changed my name, everything went down hill. I have a flyaway in my picture that drives me nuts now.

Now you will have to post your new photo!!! Good luck! :)

  11. The irony because I bet you were trying to look like an older professional when you got your license made at age 22. Ha! ;-) Have so much fun in NYC... be sure to take plenty of photos for guest blogs on the TOWN website!! xoxo- Kate (P.S. Why does my user name come up as "Uknown?")

  12. The last picture I took on my NC license was GREAT too!! In fact, even though it's expired and has holes punched in it, I kept it because it was that good. Yours looks fantastic too - I'm sure the new one will be even more beautiful!

My first PA license was horrendous - I had a ponytail and I looked totally bald. I learned my lesson for the one I got for my name change and blow dried my hair real big and wore big turquoise earrings. So much better, but just not as good as the first one.

Have a great weekend in NYC! I'll keep my peepers peeled for ya!

  16. Hate to sound like a broken record, but that really is one fabulous License photo! I was not lucky enough to snag a photo sesh with whomever took your picture, which resulted in my ID photo looking like the unholiest of mugshots from a particularly depression womens penitentiary. But it's nice to know that there is hope for a great photo!

  17. I'm in the same boat as you, only my license was when I was 15.5 getting my learner's permit! Now VA has a law that you can't smile in your license photo, ugh..it's gonna be bad!
