Week 14 Pregnancy Journal
How Far Along? 14 weeks
Size of Baby: A lemon (3.4 inches)
Gender: We find out later this month which is CRAZY.
Weight Gain: Holding tight this morning at -3 from starting weight.
Maternity Clothes: I am so wearing maternity jeans as I type this and it's glorious. Other than that, regular clothes still fitting well. Now that work knows, I don't have to hide behind blousy tops anymore.
Nursery: Once we find out gender, the gears will truly get turning!
Movement: Wishing hard for it, but none so far. The ultrasound tech told me that based on the placement of some of my organs I'd feel movement quicker than the average person. (!!!!!)
Symptoms: Growing belly! Still slightly out of breath when doing mundane things like showering (really). Aversion to cigarette smoke. And oh my goodness, anything will make me tear up -- so overly emotional during happy commercials or sweet stories about humanity.
Sleep: So much better now that I took Christina's advice and ordered a Snoogle pregnancy pillow! I really didn't think I needed a large, awkwardly-shaped $45 pillow but let me tell you that it is awesome. It gives me a lot of back support and keeps me on my side. Additionally, taking 2tbsp childrens dye-free Benadryl some nights which helps to quiet my super-active mind at 3/4am.
Cravings: No real cravings, and strangely enough, I haven't been digging cereal this past week like I did every single week before. The sound of a tuna sub from Harris Teeter with pickles and cheese always sounds amazing, but if I indulge in one of those, I have to limit myself to one per week.
What I Miss: Nothing much. On a girls escape to Asheville this past weekend I was perfectly content with my mocktails -- our dinner spot even made me an incredible one using lavender simple syrup.
Best Moment This Week: Telling everyone! We told all family members and close friends first and then went truly public on Halloween. My coworkers were really supportive and I've never been so happy to have so many nurses (a lot of whom specialize in OB) as coworkers. Even my manager is an OB nurse, and that has been a wonderful experience.
Looking Forward To: Plans are in full swing now for a small gathering for a gender reveal. I ordered the invitation design last night from Etsy so I can have it printed and mailed this week. The invitation, I promise it could have been designed especially for me. It's yellow which is my favorite color and I can't wait to see the Etsy shop owner's draft of it!
So very exciting!! I would imagine it's great fun to finally let that secret out!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your Gender Reveal Party. For some inexplicable reason, I'm obsessed with those right now. Ha!
ReplyDeleteYour bump is so adorable! When is your gender appointment?! Ours is the 27th, but they said they said there's a chance it's still too early. EEK! Can't wait to find out how you are doing your reveal!
ReplyDeleteHow lucky are you with the early movement?! Go organ placement!!!
SO glad you got the snoogle. I need mine now more than ever!!!
I can't wait to see the gender reveal invitation; it sounds perfect! That's great that you work with a lot of nurses, so they have an idea of what you're going through.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your gender reveal! I know it will be super cute and exciting. For the record, I'm definitely feeling a girl for you. :)
ReplyDeleteSo stinkin' cute!!!
ReplyDeleteyou look BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteYou are seriously the cutest little pregnant thing ever. And so happy and glowy. I was puffy and mean by this point. Keep up the good work. ;)
ReplyDeleteI read that you might do a sleeper sofa in the nursery. We did a daybed/trundle in G's and it looks great... plus it was perfect for sleeping in the nursery with him (if necessary) instead of him getting used to the Master. Just a thought!
Yay! I'm so glad that you are feeling so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteApril,
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to comment the last few posts but was not successful with computer issues. At any rate, I'm SO SO happy for you. This is wonderful news, and as ever, you've got that gorgeous glow!
My best, Whitley
You're looking fantastic! FYI- I had a 4D scan at Lake Norman 3D Imaging to find out the sex of the baby at 16 weeks. It was such an incredible experience, and I highly recommend it!

Seriously, I love that you and Christina from Carolina Charm are both 14 weeks. I can't wait to see your gender reveal!

looking TOO cute Momma! Definitely invest in a nice pair of maternity jeans. They will make you feel good on days you don't feel so good! And, yes preggo pants are the best ever!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say congratulations, April!! So happy for you and Ian! For some reason I had a feeling about you the past few weeks before your big announcement!
ReplyDeleteLove your updates. You are so lucky you are not having too much nausea....you must be having a boy!
The Snoogle has been my best friend, too, the past few months. And when you get big, the Boppy Wedge is a lifesaver as well. I sleep with both - Snoogle on one side and wedge either wedged underneath my belly or behind my back to keep me from rolling too far over the other side. You'll get there in about 10 - 15 weeks!!
I'm 39 weeks today and seriously can't believe. And I'm seriously ready for Baby Smith to show up to the party!
I saw your news on Instagram last week- so, so exciting!!! Another Charlotte blog baby :) Hopefully we can meet sometime!
ReplyDeleteYou are sooo cute!! :) I can't believe you're 14 weeks along already! It goes by so fast, it really does.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for your gender reveal!
PS - I just *KNEW* you were going to reveal on Halloween :)
SO excited for you!!!!
