A Relaxing Yet Somehow Busy Weekend

We won't really talk about Friday, because it's embarrassing. Nahhh, take that back. It's dang hilarious.

I have learned that growing a baby sometimes makes you do things that you never would have done before. Which is why, at 4pm Friday, I was at work thinking just one thing: I NEED FRENCH FRIES.

My husband and I get a pizza almost every Friday night to eat together in front of the television. Call it an old people tradition, it's just our thing. I'd already thrown out the idea of getting a Philly cheesesteak pizza and he was all in. So when the fry-attack hit, I texted him and said "what would you think about switching out the cheesesteak pizza for actual Philly cheesesteaks with fries?" and he was soooo down. Yes.

But then a mixture of worry and panic hit because I could totally envision him telling me upon my arrival home that he was just craving a pizza, and is there any way, lovely, that we could just get a pizza? Fearing that this could occur, I did the most logical thing -- I found myself in the Wendys drive-thru line at 5:02 ordering french fries for my drive home.

And then I got home and the husband still wanted Philly cheesesteaks with fries, W-I-N. So yes, I got my fries, and I got them twice. Ate every single one of them. And I don't regret a thing.

Saturday was a day for running errands and working on a tassel garland project. And one of my best girlfriends got engaged! So before our dinner date that night, I broke out the bubbly in her honor.

I even had frozen blackberries in my sparkling cider. Ooh la la!

Ian and I had dinner that night at Copper which is amazing Indian food here in Charlotte. It was also the perfect night for me to rock my new earrings. These coral pretties were a recent JCPenney find. I have had my eye on them for a few months now just waiting for them to go on sale. Besides the coral color, they are also available in aqua and orange

They are on sale for $17 but if you purchase today, use coupon code PINECONE and it takes the total down to $13.60! They look so luxurious and are a nice heft. I despise cheap earrings that feel cheap. I love cheap earrings that feel expensive. :)

Sunday I took two long walks, one with Ian and Drake (yes, he wears sunglasses on sunny days complete with croakies) and one solo. I met my 10,000 steps goal on my pedometer. That seriously takes hard work!

Last night I made the mini mason jar pecan pies that were featured by Ashley on Everyday Cheer last week, and let me tell you, these are delicious! They will be a definite staple in our home!

The only tweak I made was using a store bought pie crust. I used a margarita glass as the template for the crust size. It worked so well.

If you haven't tried this recipe yet, give it a shot! They are the perfect size and so tasty.

Linking up with Sami's Shenanigans today ... thanks sweet Sami!

  1. I love hearing about other people that try every day to walk 10,000 steps. People just don't understand how difficult it is! What brand pedometer do you have?

  4. Fries twice a day!? When you're walking 10,000 steps and carrying a baby, I'd say you earned 'em. Must try those mini pies. They're just so cute!

  5. Ha! I love your Friday night escapades. I think I might have to start a little Friday night pizza tradition - that sounds like something I could easily get behind.

It's funny that just the act and romance of drinking out of a champagne glass makes it a special occasion.

And finally - I'm seriously tempted to get a pedometer to check my steps daily. What do you use? I've heard the fitbit is good but I don't think I want to spend $100....

  8. Don't feel bad! When I was pregnant with my daughter I only worked half days and would drive through to get mashed potatoes. Now that's bad!
