Shopping Coup

In my family, when someone gets a great bargain, we refer to it as a "shopping coup."

It's not uncommon for me to receive an email with this phrase in the subject line from my mom or sisters.  We love to share our good deals!  After a business meeting last week in New Bern, NC, I ventured out with a co-worker for a quick visit to two stores.  New Bern is a quaint little coastal city with a lot of history and charm.

First we stopped at Peacock's Plume, which is a precious boutique with lots of great lines (think Milly, Kate Spade, Lilly Pulitzer, Tibi, you get the gist).

I looked around for a rehearsal dinner dress and found some cute options but nothing I was dying for.  But I did spot on the back wall a great Lilly scoop-neck blouse for 75% off -- originally $150, and I scored this one for less than $40!

Next we headed to a consignment store that we heard really good things about from the ladies at Peacock's Plume.  I loooove a good upscale consignment store.

Twice as Nice had a lot of items that had obviously been purchased at Peacock's Plume.  Warning: you may feel tinges of jealousy if you decide to keep reading!

This gorgeous Trina Turk top was $14.98.  It's in perfect condition.  I wore it this past weekend to the Charlotte Antiques & Collectibles show with J. Crew skinny jeans, my beloved Frye cowboy boots, and a long navy cardigan from Banana Republic.

And this Trina Turk top?  Only $11.98.  I can't wait to pair it with a black pencil skirt for work.  It's completely lined and has a side zip and darts in the front for a very tailored look.

And my last deal of the day was this terrycloth Lilly beach cover-up.  It's a little long on me, so I'm going to have it hemmed right above those side slits.  It will be perfect for my bachelorette weekend in Miami next month and then our honeymoon in June!  This one was $26.98.

So ... what's been your favorite shopping coup that you've experienced lately?

  2. I shop at consignment shops quite often. I'm a member of the Jr. League of Charlotte and they get all of Step by Sloan's leftovers along with other stores.

I think I may have gone to the first shop when I was in New Bern for work. They have a cute lil downtown area there!
