The Organized Traveler, Part III

Today I'm kicking off the last of The Organized Traveler series!  If you missed any of the other posts, you can catch Part I here and Part II here.

While my traveling season may have slowed down drastically (hello again, girlfriend wine nights and workout classes!), I have definitely learned a lot in the past few travel-heavy years.

Recently I checked in at a hotel and they welcomed me to my 26th stay with them.  I just had to laugh.  That's just one of the hotels I frequent, and while it is one I visit fairly often, it just sounded crazy!

Travel Tip 1
Build up your toiletry arsenal with fun little treats.  Mini-sizes of nice hair products or fun toothpaste will make your time away from home feel like less of a hassle.  When I started traveling, I just relied on the hotel shampoos and conditioners, but then I started realizing that I was spending a lot of time away and I may as well treat myself with nice products.

Extra credit: I still take the hotel shampoos and soaps and I collect them to donate to our local Ronald McDonald House.  Check with your local RMH house or a shelter to see if that's something that could come in handy for them.

Travel Tip 2
Accessories that make a big impact are an easy way to look put-together without toting along your entire jewelry chest.  If you go all silver or all gold, even better -- you've got a piece that can be used with all sorts of outfits!  A gold link chain like the one above would look just as great over a black sheath dress as it would over a white tee with cropped jeans and flats.

Travel Tip 3
Keep earbuds handy!  I store mine in my sunglasses case (which is always in my purse).  Should you find yourself with a little time to kill, you can use them with your smartphone or tablet to keep yourself amused.  I rented a movie from iTunes for my last plane trip, and it made it fly by!  Additionally, if you work out at the hotel gym and it has an area to plug in your earphones, then they are working double duty.

I hope that you enjoyed this series and that you may be able to use a tip or two.  If you have more tips, please do share!

  1. I agree with you about the toiletries. I always try to bring my favorite things. I just feel prettier when I use nice stuff. So silly but it works. I am gonna go back through your posts when I am packing for Europe.

  2. That is such a great idea about donating the toiletries from the hotels you stay at! How awesome...

  3. I never thought about donating toiletries. We seriously have so many! I'll be looking into that. Thanks for the idea :)

  4. I donate my toiletries to the Men's Shelter. I dropped a bunch off last week and they were so grateful---I almost felt guilty because it is so easy.

OMG, I never thought of this idea! I had no idea they had a need for this sort of thing but what a wonderful one. Thank you so much. You are a saint!
