One of my grandfathers stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.
My other grandfather was a veterinarian in the army and opened a pigeon hospital.
His wife was a nurse in the army, taking care of soldiers.
Each day, people give their time, their loyalty, their concentration, their bravery, and sometimes their lives in the name of the United States. I encourage you to think of how you feel when you place your hand over your heart to recite the Pledge of Allegiance ... or when you hear a jaw-dropping rendition of the National Anthem ... or when you experience the booming noise of a fly-over -- we are very lucky indeed.
Great post! It's hard to understand everything that our military has done for America.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I just blogged about this too...my grandfather was at Normandy as well, crazy!
ReplyDeleteAs an ARMY wife enduring my 3rd year long deployment away from my husband, I thank you for this sweet post!
