Five On Friday (Hey From The Coast!)

Good morning from the coast of NC! I get to head home today and am so geared up for the weekend. Time for a little Five On Friday action -- here's five things on my mind today.

Irony is ... preaching wellness during the day and then ordering THIS at dinner. Fries topped with hot crab dip and melted cheese. Judge away. It was worth every calorie.

(For what it's worth, it was shared three ways ... better, right?)

Yesterday I went to my favorite little consignment store in New Bern that I've blogged about a few times (here and here). It's called Twice as Nice and while it can be hit-or-miss, I don't think I've ever left empty-handed. Some days are just more of a hit than others! :) I picked up two tops this time -- a red scoop neck Gap tee and a stretchy tunic. I'm a sucker for tunics. The store was giving an extra 15% off and my total was just over $14 for the two of these tops. Can't wait to throw them in the wash so I can wear them this weekend!

My new monogrammed necklace from The Plaid Barn (that I blogged about here) came in the mail the other day and I LOVE it. It's larger than either of my other two necklaces and I love the white paired with the gold. I've been wearing it nonstop! Did anyone else who ordered one have theirs come in as well?

I'm crazy in love with this outfit. Like, need to recreate this fall season. Question for you fashionistas, however ... what shoes do you wear with your maxi skirts in cold weather? I love my knit maxi skirts in the summer because I can easily pair them with flat sandals. But in the winter -- knowing that most of my skirts wouldn't be long enough to really pair with heels like heeled boots, wedges, or booties -- what would you wear the skirts with to stay warm enough? Flat boots?

winter maxi. Too cute

Loving, loving, loving the promise of a new weekend. Looking forward to a few days to relax and appreciate the small things! Happy Friday, friends!

  7. Those fries look dangerous! I'd probably do flat boots or flats (depending on the weather) with that skirt. I think boots would be cute!

  14. oh daaahling, i'm so glad you asked. i got a long sleeved maxi for my birthday [from old navy], and i LOVE it! i tried wearing some booties with it, but that just wasn't quite my style. i opted for some leopard smoking loafers, and they're just right!

  15. That consignment store sounds AMAZING! Wish we had one that good in this area!! I think maxi skirts can definitely be worn year round - if your skirts aren't quite long enough then I'd go with flats or even try flat booties (prob warmer) when it's cold out!! Love Maxis!!

  16. I'm going to have to keep checking back for comments, because I just got a maxi skirt from Stitch Fix and have been wondering the same thing! My boots have heels, and if I'm going to wear the skirt, I want to still be comfortable! Love the monogram necklace! It's gorgeous!

  17. Those fries look HEAVENLY! My mama sells the monogramed necklaces at her boutique here in KC and I LOVE mine and can hardly take it off, either. I love the chunkiness to yours, though. What a statement piece!

  18. Those french fries look INSANE!!! I like wearing flat boots with my maxi skirts because I'm tall{ish} and heels make the skirts too short. Loving the monogram necklace. I'm looking at getting one soon and love this one!

  21. I'm pairing my maxi skirts with riding boots. Also, the right ballet flat would look cute with maxi skirts and dresses.

  26. Those fries look amazing! And yea, I would probably pair a maxi skirt with flat boots in the winter (or booties) but flat would make the most sense. Heels would make it an awkward length I think and just look more old fashioned.

  27. My necklace came in the mail yesterday :-) So glad you mentioned the sale on them a few weeks ago or else I never would have gotten one!

  28. Those fries look sinfully delicious! I love that maxi skirt look but can't wear them, boo! Maybe try a pair of casual booties that are flat/low heel with it? Have a great weekend!
