Let Me Send You Shoelaces.

Hi pretties, just quickly checking in ... what a busy week it's been!

I'm proud to say that I have been working out consistently this week and I think it's because of my super-cool neon pink shoelaces.  Honest.

(If you have no idea what I'm talking about, read this post)

And just as a little surcee from me to you, I wanted to pass along a fun little idea.

YOU: Tell me what the highlight of your week has been in a comment below.
ME: I'll read through the comments left today and tomorrow.  By 12 noon Eastern time, I'll pick one comment that really resonates with me and I'm gonna send that commenter some funky neon orange shoelaces.

You don't have to be a blogger, you don't have to have some extraordinary crazy story, just something that brought a big smile to your face this week.

NEON ORANGE SHOELACES.
You need 'em.
And I just want to hear about your happy times.

So .... go!

  1. I've been a long-time reader and first time commenting; love your blog!

Within the past week, I have out- of-the blue inquired about and been granted a temporary position with my company for the summer working on a FEMA contract for Hurricane Sandy recovery. Nothing like spending your summer on the Jersey Shore!

I think I need the laces to try to keep up with Snooki and Jwoww!

  3. The highlight of my week (so far) has been the weather today in Raleigh- upper 70s, Carolina blue sky, GORGEOUS! But, I think the true highlight of my week will come tomorrow when I go see the Great Gatsby! It's my favorite book of all time and I'm dying to see it!

  4. Yoga and dinner with a close girl friend that included philosophizing about life on her patio while watching a gorgeous spring sunset and enjoying a delicious glass of red wine last night.

  5. I already have neon orange shoelaces (to go with my neon orange sneakers!) but the highlight of my week is going to be heading uptown for Alive After 5 tonight! My first one of the spring/summer.

  6. The highlight of my week happened today when my boss told me that I could take the day off next Friday from my "regular" work and attend our local Special Olympics with some amazing kids! As a school-based Speech Language Pathologist, I work with many special needs children who astound me every day with their resilience and sweet spirits. I'm so excited to be able to attend the event with them and cheer them on :)

  8. You are so cute! The highlight of my week was last night... went on an evening run with my hubby and little boy in the jogging stroller. We had some tunes blaring from my phone and just enjoyed being outside together in the gorgeous weather! Yay for spring FINALLY arriving :)

  9. As a non-blogger, I always jump at opportunities to comment and share. A little here and there can go a long way! Thanks for the chance to participate.
The highlight of my week has been running (to some it may have looked like jogging!) 4 miles. It was my longest run to date in my half marathon training. I've never ran a half marathon before and it was a big leap of faith for me to sign-up. Ever since getting into distance running, I've felt great!
I love reading your blog and seeing how you balance the challenges of an everyday busy life – thanks for the motivation!

  10. Hi, dear..... so fun!! And what a great idea - doesn't everyone need some ORANGE neon shoe laces? Maybe they'd help get my booty into gear w/ the 30-Day Shred DVD sitting here starring at me, begging to be put in the DVD player. ;)

    Highlights of my week::
1.) I made two big "boxes of sunshine" mother's day gifts (for my stepmom and MIL). They turned out so cute and I actually got them in the mail *early* on Tuesday, instead of waiting until the very last minute to tackle mother's day gifts (a.k.a. order something the day before and overnight ship - not cool).

2.) Some back patio water fun every.single.day. this week with my mini. He loves being outside and a water hose is about all he needs to be one happy camper here lately. Makes my heart happy and has made me remember that it really is the little things that matter most! :)

  12. Highlight of my week will be tomorrow when my husband and I arrive in the Crescent City, New Orleans to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. New Orleans was our first trip together when we were dating so the city has special meaning for us. We'll be spending the weekend listening to jazz on Frenchmen Street, walking around the Quarter and soaking in all the decadence, grit and culture that the city has to offer. We always start with 2 Pimm's Cups at the Napoleon House!

  13. Hey girl Heyyyy! Cute Post! I've been sick this week with a bad cold...ugh, so it's been the little things that have meant a lot to me these past couple of days. Last night, I was going to attempt to make a healthy dinner (nothing tastes good when I'm sick except for junk food) and I didn't have a couple of the necessary ingredients. I messaged Justin during the day and bless his heart he stopped on the way home to pick up the things we needed and got me a couple of surprises as well! Having been a single gal for so long it is so nice having someone around that actually enjoys doing nice things for me! That AND the sun is finally shining around here!!! Those are the things that are making me happy this week! xoxo!

  14. I just love this idea! I have some neon Nikes and they brighten my workout for sure.

The highlight of my week is yesterday I found out from my trainer that in the last month I have been working out with her I have lost 5% of my body fat! I'm pretty pumped :)

  15. Highlight of my week was snail mail - a sweet, heartfelt card from my sister/maid of honor expressing her happiness at my upcoming marriage and another card from a girlfriend thanking me for our friendship. Isn't it amazing how a little thing can really be the biggest?

  16. I have been working on a murder case that is high-profile and was just granted an appeal. I never thought that would happen and now I have the 'pleasure' of working on it for quite possibly forever. I just want his victim to get the justice she deserves!

  17. This is such a fun idea! Good for you on working out consistently this week. The highlight of my week was hearing my son, who is in 4th grade, tell me all about the "character spotlight" award that he won for "exercising good judgment." It was such a refreshing change from the "it was fine" response that I normally get when I ask how his day was! You could tell that he was so proud of himself and it totally made his mom's day too!

  18. The highlight of my week was my best friend, sorority sister and pledge daughter gave birth to her daughter this week!!!!! 19. Such a fun idea girl!! I definitely need a pair of neon shoelaces for my half marathon training! Highlight of my week was seeing Avery smile for the first time for real (not a sleep smile). Was amazing!! Definitely a moment that melts your heart! Hope you are doing well :) xoxo Meggan Vintage Modern Mom

  21. My highlight of the week was attending a TEDx event here in Helsinki. The speakers at TEDx leave me in awe every single time.

We watched a video of a woman who escaped from North Korea. One of the speakers was a woman they call The Hate Destroyer - a 67-year old German woman who spends her days cleaning up Nazi-symbols in her home town. I wrote a post with the videos if you want to check them out: http://bit.ly/YvZCtb.

    These people were so inspiring.

  23. The highlight of my week was when the real estate agent handed over the keys to our very first home!! My fiance and I are over the moon excited to be homeowners!

  24. This week has been crazy and I have hardly had time to stop and breathe. Unfortunately I lost one of my closest patients this week (I work in a Children's Hospital) and while it was terribly heartbreaking and I am still struggling, the highlight of my week was being so involved in his family and hearing how much they considered me a part of his life. I was also awarded the True Collaboration award from the nurses on my unit which added a little something special to the week. Hope you have a great weekend and get to enjoy some warm weather and maybe more working out!

  27. I missed this, but just wanted to tell you that I'd never heard the word "surcee" until the other day when Nick said it. I was very much like, "HUH???" so it made me laugh that you said/wrote it!
