Back to liiiiiiife, back to re-alll-i-tyyyy!
We returned late yesterday afternoon from a magical stay at Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay. We stayed at a Secrets resort in Dominican Republic six years ago for our honeymoon and loved it. This trip was just amazing, wonderful from start to finish.
Six years married -- what a good life we have. It's not always easy, it's not always social-media perfect, but we actually like each other. We LIKE each other (and we love each other, too). Vacations, I think, really help you to remember that. Chatting with newlyweds at the bar two days ago, she said "What's a piece of advice for us?" and I said "This. This right here. Vacation together."

As for now, we returned home to an ant infestation in our kitchen and a 5ft. long black garden snake who has taken up residence near one of our doors. Le sigh. Back to life, back to reality.

Happy anniversary! So nice that you were able to sneak away! Have you done this since kids, or was this the first time? We just celebrated our 7 year ani (and have 2 little ones - 3.5 and almost a year) and haven't spent more than one night away from them since they were born -- we're OVERDUE! But it's so hard. Any tips are welcomed. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!! My husband and I spent our honeymoon at that resort, almost 6 years ago! We had a great time. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the resort. It was fairly new then, so I'd love to hear how it's changed.

ReplyDeleteA weird suggestion but I hope you didn't kill the snake (I say this not because I like snakes but a black snake is a good snake to have if you have small children and live near Copperheads (which in Charlotte we do). Black snakes are territorial so they'll keep poisonous snakes out of your yard. I'd place him right outside...away from where the kids play obviously.
