Truth Or Dare

It's almost 7am, which means the girls will be up soon. I don't really have much on my blogging radar today, so I'm going to open comments up to what I hope will be something fun.

Truth or dare. You know you want to play along. Ask me anything or dare me to do anything!

Start your comment off below like this:

TRUTH: _____ (or)
DARE: _______

Okay, so it may look like this:

TRUTH: What's your most embarrassing mom moment?
DARE: I dare you to post a photo on Snapchat of XYZ

Let's keep it nice and fun and family friendly 'cause you know ... morals. :)

I may not answer everything and I may not take every dare, but I'll be responding below to each comment as my day allows, so check back ever so often to see what's happening in the comments!

OK ... GO!

  1. Truth: What is your best marriage tip?

    1. Probably just to remember to be silly and carefree together. Some of the best times I've had recently with Ian are when we are able to take off our "mom and dad" hats and just be April and Ian. We went to an amusement park in October and rode rollercoasters. That was a blast. Or just having inside jokes or making time to go out for a beer together and sit up at the bar! This past year has taught us that a $30-40 babysitter night is one of the best investments.

  2. Truth: Though you are a frivolous shopper, what is the one non-negotiable? What's the one thing you really splurge on?
Dare: Snapchat your favorite...yet the most embarrassing song you love !!

    1. Non-negotiable: Okay I'm really having to think about this one. On a small scale: I love Viva paper towels and I loathe cheap, thin paper towels. On a larger scale: vacations. Not that I'd ever have a $10k trip booked, but I also think that you should vacation RIGHT meaning spend the money on the trip you really want to take. Throw that money around and get all of the good food and experiences and souveniers!

Dare: accepted. Give me a few minutes :)

    1. Done! Luckily it wasn't too embarrassing. It's pretty empty now!

  4. Truth: How do you feel about getting botox, fillers, etc.? I'm 34, and people tell me I don't need it, but I want it!

    1. I have never had Botox but plan to in my forehead as soon as I'm done nursing Charlotte this spring! My husband isn't a fan but he just thinks the idea of it is silly. "Injecting poison" as he calls it. Just like with everything I do looks-wise, I wouldn't do it to excess though, just enough to have a little more of a youthful looking forehead. :)

  5. What does Ian do for a living? I remember seeing a picture of him in scrubs at one point. I'm a nurse, so whenever I see someone in scrubs, I'm curious!

    1. He is in medical device sales! Mostly orthopedics and some spine. Thank you for being a nurse! I sometimes wish I had taken that route.

  6. Truth! What are some things you are good at and what are some things you are bad at?

    1. Things I'm good at: listening/empathizing, decorating on a budget, painting my own nails, making friends
Things I'm not good at: being punctual, sports of just about any kind, economics (made a D in college in this subject)

    2. Haha, this made me laugh so hard. Economics is foreign to me too and my husband has a masters in it. Everybody has "that" subject 😂

    3. ha! Only D I ever made in college too!

  7. Truth: What, in your opinion, is/has been the hardest thing for you concerning marriage? The easiest?
Dare: Snapchat your top 3 must have items.

    1. The hardest thing in general is just fusing two different personalities into one marriage unit, one household. Ian's more high-stress, type A and I'm more relaxed, go with the flow. So sometimes I think he's crazy and sometimes he thinks I don't care enough about things. We make a good yin/yang but it can definitely be a challenge. The hardest specific thing we did last year was our move. OMG there were days we wanted to throw each other off of a cliff. The easiest thing has just been ... being married. Couldn't imagine myself with anyone else. We may not have a perfect marriage but we make a great couple and we love being married to each other.

  8. Dare - Post a bow tutorial on your Instagram!

    1. Oooh, and give away my trade secrets?! ;) Ha! Just kidding. I may attempt this fun dare but my bow-making does require two hands for the hand-stitching so it may be hard to record. Maybe an upcoming blog post?

  9. Truth: What's your favorite guilty pleasure? i.e.: big glass of wine? bubble bath??
Dare: I dare you to to snap your closet :) I love seeing how people organize!

    1. Favorite guilty pleasure is mall food court Chinese food. And that dare seriously makes me break out into a cold sweat. My closet is currently my secret shame. My home may be tidy but my closet is ... seriously unfortunate right now. Nothing "organized" about it. I'll work on it before the home series I have coming up!

  10. Truth: Do you ever think about going back to work while your girls are still young?
Dare: I second Jessica (I love closet organization)

    1. Great question. I think if I left a job I LOVED then I would feel this way. Right now I truly am doing exactly what I want to do. When they are in public school I will likely go back, but not sure in what capacity!

  11. Truth: what's your best mom hack?
Dare: do a day in the life post for your blog soon! :)

    1. Best mom hack: It's actually an idea I got from my mom. We had an unused drawer under our oven in our kitchen. It's now Camille's art drawer. She is allowed to get anything from it she would like at any time: construction paper, coloring books, washable crayons.

      Dare: DITL post coming tomorrow!

  12. Truth: Do you work out at all?
Dare: Snap quick morning makeup routine!

    1. Ugh, I used to work out every day. Now I do not. But this is changing soon; just had the convo last night with Ian that we are going to get a family gym membership. Just waiting for some of the business that comes with the new year to die down before we join.

Great idea on that dare! But do you really want to see my unmade face? Eek!

  13. Truth: What is your best advice for making it through nursing for a full year?
Dare: A blog post about going from 1 child to 2!

    1. Whew, making it through a full year when nursing. It's hard to give advice on this! Everyone is so different! For ME, it came down to: 1) keep a schedule (even when at work) and don't let anyone keep you from it, 2) convince yourself that formula is expensive and every day you provide breastmilk is a cost-savings, and 3) truly do what feels best for you. For me, breastfeeding was/is easy, cheap, quick, and wonderful. I was SO fortunate to never have issues with pain, infection, latching, oversupply, undersupply, et cetera. And it felt natural to me, like easier than any other alternative (but please know that that is MY experience and it's different with everyone) ... so, hope that helps! Just adopt whatever works for you. :)

  15. Truth- How do you keep yourself so upbeat and optimistic?
    I have 2 dares...
Dare 1- Show us what's in your bag..
    (or)
Dare 2- Show us a day in the life of your eating..

Hope it's not too late to join in... :)

  16. Hope I am not too late! What are your thoughts about the 2 year age gap between Camille and Charlotte? Benefits? Drawbacks?
Also, thank you for being so honest about your breastfeeding experience. It is so nice to hear someone acknowledge that not everyone is blessed with an easy experience.
