Five On Friday!

It's time for another edition of Five on Friday and I do hope you'll join along!

Remember, all you have to do is post about five things on your mind, add our logo (found at the bottom of this post), and join the party using the linky tools below. Easy, and a great way to find new blogs and be found. :)

This week started baby music classes for our sweet little Charlotte! We are doing more classes at Music Together and our Charchie-girl was SO excited and happy in class. It was seriously adorable. These classes are not cheap, and lawd knows I didn't really need another item on our already-busy agenda, BUT the feeling I got Monday seeing her do her thing was priceless. Camille was in pre-school so it was just great one-on-one time with my littlest girl. My friend Sarah (whose daughter is also in the class) snapped this picture of me with the girls under the parachute and I snagged it from her Snapchat. :)

Okay, so I have a little tip to pass along to anyone who is as CHEAP/FRUGAL/STINGY as me.

Earlier this season I fell positively in lovvvvve with this Fireside Night candle that I got from Aldi. It was $6.99 and a great dupe for the Voluspa tin candles which I also love.

But then it burned all the way down. And I was sad.

WELL. I had the best idea today.

I took a cheese knife and cut out the leftover wax, and I added it to my wax scent warmer! Just stuck the chips right in. And my house smelled like that lovely candle all over again! I got my warmer also from Aldi for $4, and I've decided that it's the perfect thing to have around the house to get the extra mile from your favorite candles.

(If you aren't close to an Aldi, I also love the look of this sea urchin one from Amazon)

One of my sweet blog readers alerted me to this amazing product! She saw last week's photo of me feeding Charlotte from a pouch via spoon and shot me a quick email. She said that they have been so awesome in her family ... I immediately added them to my Amazon cart! They work with food pouches and make it so that the child has to suck on it to get the contents out. No more accidental banana-prune volcano when your kid grasps the pouch a little too forcefully!

Yesterday I spent $91 at Aldi and got sooooo much. And yes, I stood on our kitchen island barstool to photograph it all.

Here are some of the highlights:

+ For $2.99, this hyacinth in a bulb forcer vase. It smells heavenly in our kitchen!

+ For $0.79/each, ORGANIC baby food pouches. Yep, the ones that are $1-1.50 in stores. This really adds up!

+ For $3.99, the prosciutto panini sticks which are absolutely delicious! They made for a great low-carb snack yesterday afternoon.

Lastly, just some shots of my girls because they have been precious this week and just a joy.

Next week is .... HOME WEEK!

Come on back on Monday and we'll spend all week talking about fun house-related topics -- buying, selling, renovating, decorating on a budget!

TGIF y'all, and hope you will join in on Five on Friday this week! Cheers to the weekend!

  1. I am an Aldi shopper myself. People completely underestimate it and assume it's basic. But there is so much good stuff! And the candle idea...I broke a Bath and Body Works candle. I broke pieces off to melt in a warmer too. No reason to waste it if there is still scent. Thanks for sharing and Happy Friday!

  2. I so wish we had an Aldi nearby! I've missed it ever since we moved a year and a half ago. For now I'll just stick to my beloved Target. Love the candle idea, too! Great tip :)

  7. Our house is currently for sale. I have an almost 5 month old girl and a 2.5 year old girl. We have had almost 70 showings and we still haven't gotten an offer. Please talk about how you sold your house with two little ones and any tips you can throw out there!!!

  8. I love Aldi and I love your blog...so when you blog about Aldi it just makes my heart go pitter pat. Have you tried their seedtastic bread? Seriously so good and my toddler happily eats it too. I also found organic peanut butter with flax and chia in it there this week which also tastes great and i love that it adds a little extra nutritional value to my daughters pb&j . Happy Friday!!

  9. I've got to buy one of the Sip'n things! My 1 year old looooooves the pouches, but when he's not feeling it he looooves to squeeze it to death and swim in his puree. Thanks for the tip!

  11. What is that pink nail color you've been wearing? Looks like a great color to wear in the hospital for baby girl coming!

  12. This may be old news, but I recently heard a great tip for the wax warmers. When it is almost done or you just want to change the scent, pop the part with the melted wax in the freezer for a couple of hours and then the leftover wax will come out in one piece. Works perfectly!

  13. So apparently I'm not the only one who's dying to know what nail polish you're wearing!! Do tell:)

  16. Such sweet pictures of the girls! I need to get back to updating five for Friday posts - thanks for sharing.
Great deals on all the Aldi purchases - you are not kidding about those pouches adding up. We need those little caps. I cannot tell you how many little squirts of zuchinni-banana puree I have cleaned up from these things being dropped on the floor.

  17. Um, WHY have I never been to Aldi before? I was actually discussing Aldi at Bunco this week with the ladies - only a few had ever been but it seemed like the best kept secret, ever. I totally need that hyacinth bulb + vase :)

  18. We had a financial guy come speak to us at work and he said you can save $1k-$1.2k a year just by shopping at Aldi! Thankfully, there's one right next to our house so I told my hubby once I'm a SAHM, I'll start shopping there (ain't nobody got time for 2 grocery trips in one day lol!)

  20. Thanks for the tips! Just went to aldi and got a candle, flower and baby pouches (and lots of other things)! Ordered the tops for the pouches too as one just got all over my daughter without it!

  21. Aldi is EVERYTHING and hyacinths are my favorite at this time of year because the smell is a constant reminder that winter is almost over!
