Follow Up on Roll Call

You know what was fun? Last Monday's roll call post.

I had just shy of 300 comments (it's not too late if you'd like to join in!) and it was SO fascinating to me to hear a little bit about you. Your name, where you live, some of you even chimed in with how long you've been reading here, and duh! - what you had for breakfast! That was SO fun.

I promised prizes, and prizes you will get. Your next coffee and cake pop are on ME. Please email me if your name is below so I can email you $10 to Starbucks!

First Commenter: Jennifer from Jenuine Happiness
Furthest Commenter: Maddie from remote Western Austrailia (WOW!)
100th Commenter: "Brittany from South Carolina - banana with almond butter & coffee to drink!"

So, can we keep this going? Because I truly, TRULY loved hearing from you.

Today's question ...
What do you do for a living?

Me? I'm currently staying at home with my daughters. I also make children's hairbows to make a little side money :) Until last year, I worked as a health and wellness account executive with an insurance carrier, and I helped our companies put wellness programs in place for their employees and health plan members. When I go back to work, I'm not sure if I'll try to stay in this type of industry or if I will want to do something completely different (my degree is in Spanish).

Your turn! What do you do?

  1. SO SO fun April! I was so excited to see that so many people had commented on your Roll Call post! Currently- I am staying at home with my 5 children, 7 years old and under. I am also a speech therapist and up until 2 years ago, had worked in pediatric outpatient therapy for 10 years. I will definitely go back to work once all my kiddos are in school- in what capacity- I am not sure yet! Speech therapy is really versatile and there are a lot awesome jobs I could do! Hope you have a wonderful day friend!!

  2. I am happy to participate this time around! I'm from the Bay Area in CA but recently relocated to the East Coast for my husband's job... I am a work-at-home-mom, blessed with an extremely flexible job- actually 2! I work part-time designing online learning "modules" for new special education teachers and I also work for an educational game design company. My job there is to come up with the game design concepts and functions that are then passed on to our programmers and graphic designers. I love both jobs and feel fortunate that I can keep working and stay home to raise my babies!

  3. It's so awesome that you got so many comments! Congrats to the winners!

Right now, during the school year, I work as an aftercare worker in the elementary school and I substitute at that school. During the summer, I am working as a camp counselor for kids with Autism. I'm hoping to find a full time job in the school system as an aide, secretary, cafeteria worker/etc.

  8. Rarely do I comment - but April, you have one of my fav. blogs! I'm Katy, formerly working in hospital administration in the federal sector as a staffer to the CEO (similar to the Chief of Staff to the President), but now that I'm a new Mom I transitioned to a job as a Analyst in Quality at a local non-profit hospital. I LOVE healthcare, my career, and also being a working Mom, but the long hours, short deadlines, and high stress in hospital administration [esp. while pregnant] were taxing! One day I know I'll get back into administration, but for now I am really enjoying contributing in this role and seeing more of my husband & daughter :). Pre-baby I thought I might want to be a SAHM, but after 1 week of maternity leave I knew I wanted to go back to work! Life sure is crazy!! My daughter is only 8 months old now and every day I find myself fascinated by ALL Moms - SAHM and working!! Being a Mom is such a sacrifice and I have so much respect for you all!! Thanks April for the opportunity - and the fabulous blog!

They're the makers of the delicious LARABARS :) My degree is actually in early childhood education but after graduation, I accidentally landed upon this job and after 7 years, I'm still here! We have a wellness program through our insurance and I have to tell you, it has done WONDERS for our culture. Our wellness coach is hands down the best part of our program. I would love to hear more of the kinds of things you did at your job to help your companies!

  129. Hi April, I've also been reading since before Camille was born! My mom is a Furman Alumna and I went to Clemson! I am currently the Enrollment Coordinator at a big daycare/preschool in the DC area. My 2 boys, ages 4 and 1.5 both come to my school, and I love the dynamic of being a working mama but also getting to pop in and see them during the day! It'll be super bittersweet when my oldest starts his new school in the fall.
