A Great-Grandparents Visit

I scored big when it came to my grandparents-in-law. Sadly, I lost one set of grandparents when I was in middle school and the other set when I was in college. So early.

Meeting Ian's late father's mother and stepfather was a big turning point for me ... a time when I felt like I had loving grandparents in my life again. They love me like I was born into their family, and they ADORE Camille.

Here are some photos from a recent visit they paid us from DC. They are in their 90s and still extremely active. They are not afraid to pack up the car and drive, drive, drive. They are an inspiration! We treasure these photos.

  5. So precious!! Camille is getting so big. I never had great-grandparents or three of my own grandparents (my only grandmother is now 90!), so I really hope that whoever I marry someday still has grandparents who might "adopt" me too. :-)

  11. I just love these pics. It makes me so sad my Mimi and Granddad didn't get to meet Rob or my future children, but I am sure they are watching from above. You all are lucky to have them!

  13. What a treasure for her to have her great-grandparents around! I (thankfully) have all of my grandparents still, but both sets of Brandon's passed away when he was young. So, mine have become his and love him just like he's their own flesh and blood! (And, my great-grandfather is still living and it's such a blessing that Walker gets to know his great-great-grandfather!)

  16. The expressions on your grandmother's face are priceless! So full of life! My only living grandparent, our sweet Nonnie, is 94 and we cherish every moment with her. To think these precious folks lived through so many decades - what a legacy.
