The Baby Is Seven Months

Camille will be eight months old this week which makes it the perfect time to post her seven month update ;)

Seven whole months, baby girl. Time is whizzing by.

The day after you turned six months, we started you on solid foods. I was a little nervous, I mean -- that is such a big girl thing! Even my mom said to me, Isn't that amazing that she has survived for half of a year on your milk alone? Crazy.

You started with oatmeal cereal (Earth's Best) mixed with a little milk. Later we had fun introducing veggies (green beans, then peas, then sweet potatoes, gradually working our way to fruits too).

Like your mama, you love food.

On a tougher note, in your sixth month you did not dodge the hand foot and mouth bullet that went around daycare. Yikes! I got the call from your teacher saying that she saw the telltale red spots (similar to chicken pox) on your legs and hands. A trip to the pediatrician confirmed that it was accompanied by a double ear infection. We felt horrible for you but you were tough. You stayed out of daycare for a week and your Mimi came up from the beach to help take care of you while we worked.

You love playing with us in our bed and rolling around in the covers.

You had your first Thanksgiving. We celebrated with my aunts, uncles and cousins in Charlotte and then headed down to the family lakehouse for the rest of the weekend.

We even took our family Christmas card photos during that lakehouse trip and you were just giggly and too cute. The star of the holiday cards.

And very importantly, the month of MOVEMENT! All month long you were up on all fours, rocking back and forth with so much energy that we knew you'd crawl soon. We propped up books on the floor, set toys out a few feet in front of you, but no crawling. Finally, I put a half-eaten glass pan of cinnamon rolls on the floor in front of you, and BAM BAM BAM BAM your little hands and knees moved swiftly across the rug right to the sweet rolls. The first day you crawled was the day before you turned seven months.

You are in 6 months clothes and even some 9 months clothes, and you're in size 2 diapers (and size 3 overnight diapers). You have milk at 7, 11, 3, and 6:30 and two meals a day, usually a fruit in the late morning and a veggie around 5:30. You are sleeping from 7am-7pm most nights ... obviously being sick changes things a bit. You continue to have a sweet disposition and are babbling all the time!

Look at you, growing growing growing!
Love you, dear baby.

  10. Liz she is such a beauty!! Bummer about HMF ick!! Out of curiosity is there a reason you went with oatmeal cereal over rice? Our ped too doesn't want her starting until 6 months so I picked up Earth's Best Rice Cereal to have on hand. Just curious!
