Five On Friday

The first Five On Friday of 2014 ... let's make this a great link-up day! I'm so excited to share my five with you and I can't wait to read yours.

Here's what is on my radar today.

O N E
Our Carolina Panthers won last Sunday which means we are going to the playoffs! I can't wait to cheer on our Cats as they continue doing oh so well. What a season it's been.

So, my aunt made this incredible dip for Christmas and I should be seriously embarrassed about the amount of time I spent hovering over the serving bowl. You can find the recipe here for this Cranberry Delight Spread. Cranberries and oranges just remind me of chilly weather so you can bet I'll be making this soon. Is it even too early to start thinking about Superbowl nibbles?!

Do you cook the traditional New Years Eve dinner? Last year I waited until the very last minute and our grocery store was all out of collards. The black eyed peas signify luck and collards signify money in the coming year. So basically, in 2013 we had great luck but no lottery winnings. This year I didn't let that same rookie mistake happen again -- we had collards and lots of them!

On my birthday I went out and treated myself to a new mascara -- Benefit's They're Real! mascara. I've only used it twice so far but I can tell you that I'm already a fan! I think mascara is at its worst right when you first start using it -- I like for it to slightly thicken after several days of use -- so hopefully the best is yet to come.

We had such a wonderful New Years Eve and I can't wait to share details next week! Leaving you with a few photos which prove how amazing dinner was. I was STUFFED to the brim and my sweet friend Meg captured these shots.

So dang full.

It's okay, I rallied and had dessert just a bit after these were taken.

I hope you will join this link-up along with me and my wonderful co-hostesses -- DarciNatasha, and Christina. Playing along is simple!  Just write a post about five things on your mind today, anything goes really, post the logo below on your blog, and then enter your post address below in the link-up section. It's a great way of meeting new friends and getting more eyes on your cute blog :)

  1. I am so excited that the Panthers made it to the playoffs! Can't wait to watch them again. That dip looks delicious. Cranberries have been the unsung seasonal flavor for me, I love them way more than pumpkin and peppermint.

  2. So stinkin cute. I also TOTALLY agree - brand new mascara is blah. You gotta let it get used to you :)

  3. That is my FAVORITE mascara ever. It is amazing. And I do agree, I have three tubes of it in my make-up bag, yet I always end up using the same one. I like the wand better, even though they're all the same!

  7. We always have black eyed peas and collards too! New Years day is my mom's birthday and she hates that southern tradition! You would think after being married to a southern man for 30 years she would be use to it by now, but no luck yet :) That mascara is my favorite! I didn't like it when I first bought it, but after a couple uses I was in love!

I have the mascara but only use it for "special occasions." I feel wasteful using it for work. haha.

  18. I think I said this to Dee before but. "I didn't know southerners liked NFL football." ;)

Completely agree that mascara takes a few uses to get perfect. I do like that mascara but actually like my cheapy one a bit better! Maybe it's the price thing???

    Happy new year!
