Summer Wedding Style (And Cousin Crushing)

When I was a little girl, I had a big crush on the following:

Jordan from New Kids On The Block
Rick Astley
My cousin Drew

What! You didn't have a crush on your cousin too? Maybe it's just a South Carolina thing (kidding, kidding!). And then the crush passed and I joined forces with his older sister and my middle sister to torture him as cousins and older sisters do.

Well, Drew is getting married this weekend to an adorable gal that we are excited to welcome into the family! A girl that, a few years ago at an ECU tailgate (after a few too many red Solo cups of chardonnay) I introduced to my friends as my cousin-in-law. As in, my cousin by marriage. When they were only dating. Whoopsies.

So I'm glad that the time has come when I can officially welcome her as a cousin-in-law, and now ... what to wear!?

Summer Wedding Style
Pin It!

The wedding will be in Raleigh, North Carolina, so we are still talking warm temps.  I'm loving the sunny tones from these dresses, both from JCPenney!  Can I get an amen on the rebranding that this store has done and kept up, even with CEO changes?  Our local store never ceases to amaze, and the in-store Sephora is amazing with really sweet gals working there.

From left to right, top to bottom:
Aldo Speegle Gold Heels (Were $60, now $38)
Kate Spade Mikas Pond Lacey Clutch ($178, multiple colors)

The dress on the left is a great casual option and would even look awesome with a belt.  The dress on the right is an incredible option for a dressier wedding.  I love the pop of the Tiffany blue with this yellow ... such a happy and cheery combination!

Now, time for me to go practice my best Cupid Shuffle moves.
Ta-ta for now!

  1. JCP has seriously stepped it up. Our local store isnt amazing, but online? I mean, I got two super cute bathing suit tops for $8 EACH! I dont even care if they fall apart after a summer for that price - and so far, they are holding up well!

  2. I like JCP too but have to say some of their clothing is just not good quality. I bought a shirt there a few weeks back and after a few wears and washes(no drying) it is falling apart :(

  6. Love that dress with the sweetheart neckline! So perfect for a summer wedding. And yes, I'm pretty sure in my younger days I used to call my cousin my boyfriend. I'm going to blame it on the fact that I didn't know the true definition of the words cousin & boyfriend at that age!

  10. Totally had the cousin crush. Followed him for a mile up the beach in the fog on Cape Cod when I was 13 and he was 16...I was sure he would fall in love with me. Nope -- but we love yucking it up when we tell that story to this day!

  11. The Cupid Shuffle is my fav! Can you do The Wobble? That's my new favorite dance.

I didn't have a cousin crush (since I was oldest) but I did have an uncle crush. Talk about awkwarddd.

  12. I really need a dress for a more casual wedding in August and wasn't wanting to spend a lot of money. I keep hearing and seeing on blogs that JCP has stepped up their game, but I haven't gone in to check it out myself. May have to go look at these dresses. They are pretty dang cute!
