.... just kidding.
That would be pretty fabulous, though.
Our key phrase this weekend was "let's play it by ear." How great is that?! Sometimes I just love having plans, but I've found that our most relaxing weekends are those where we just pick what we do based on how we feel and what we want. Game-time decisions. They are the best.
Friday I busted out my new sunglasses that I got from C. Wonder (these) ... yes, they are a little frou-frou but I'm pretty sure I can't go to Paris without them.
Ian had to work late on Friday night so I got a little treat ready for him upon his arrival home. Sidenote: nothing is better than hand-stuffed blue cheese olives. I filled those bad boys UP.
Saturday for us was a really active day ... yardwork, gym, cleaning. I picked these pretties from our yard and I loved seeing them in our den all weekend.
I also switched out my closet to spring/summer clothes (this idea eludes Ian ... he can fit all of his clothes in one closet. Me? I definitely have to rotate it out for the changing seasons). I have a huge pile of items to purge -- maybe time for a blog sale or Instagram sale?
Saturday evening we headed to one of our favorite areas, Montford, which is essentially a little cut-thru street that has lots of fun bars and restaurants lining it. We tried out a new Mexican restaurant and they had $4 margaritas for Cinco de Mayo ... yes, please!
Sunday was so lazy due to the dreary weather. We are huge Mexican fans and certainly didn't mind having it two nights in a row, so last night we made cheesy beef enchiladas with refried black beans and sliced avocado.
The best part of the weekend was getting more plans together for our Europe vacation. Mom told me recently that it's sort of like planning a wedding all over again, which is completely true. I'm researching and booking everything ... trains, planes, automobiles, hotels, tours, you name it. Ian has been a great help but sometimes it's just easier to handle it solo. Yesterday during some couch time we found ourselves watching National Lampoon's European Vacation and it got us so excited for the trip in such a silly way ... we are giddy with excitement!
A, have you booked your hotel for Paris yet? I just got back a couple of weeks ago. We stayed at La Maison Favart. I could not recommend a better hotel. The service was unbelievable. Staff speaks wonderful English and are so accommodating! Hotel is very small and has a boutique feel. On a very quiet street, a great hole in the wall Italian place close by! It is a little expensive but if you are only going to be there for a bit, worth the splurge! If you need any other Paris recs, let me know :)

Rotating my clothes is on my to do list. I think I can get away with another two weeks - all of my spring dresses are technically out, just in another closet.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to be planning for your vacay! I love low key weekends. :)

Those enchiladas look great! I also have to rotate my clothes. My husband does not so he doesn't understand. My dream is to have a closet big enough where I don't have to do this.
ReplyDeletei love the "let's play it by ear" mentality on the weekend! it's nice to not have everything planned every once in a while :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend! And how excited are you for your European vacation!?!
ReplyDeleteMy husband's key phrase is 'we'll see' which is his version is play it by ear. I always tell him thats what Im going to put on his grave.

ReplyDeleteI agree that those glasses definitely need to go to Paris. So cute. I am going to England and Ireland at the beginning of June and I am getting stressed.
