In the spirit of random posts on Thursdays (which seem to be some of my favorites to read on other blogs), here's an update of some makeup and skincare lovies.
Toner: Do You or Don't You?
A little more than a year ago, I was getting a facial at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa (and my goodness, was that an awesome experience) and the aesthetician pretty much guffawed at the fact that I didn't use a toner as part of my daily skincare routine. I've heard varying opinions about whether toner is really needed or not, and the basic takeaway point for me was that an alcohol-free version is best if you do decide to use one. I picked up Neutrogena's Alcohol Free Toner ($6.49, here) and that bottle lasted me for well over a year. Recently during a facial at SilkRoad Spa during my Greensboro girls weekend, I mentioned to that aesthetician that I was running out of my toner and was open to recommendations. She said that Bobbi Brown's toner made her skin GLOW (done and done) so I promptly picked up a bottle of that, even though it was a bit of a splurge ($29, here). It smells heavenly, and feels so good going on.
Give A Peel A Try
So, when I recently received a 20% off coupon at Ulta, I headed straight there and purchased Philosophy's The Microdelivery Peel kit ($69, here). It consists of a two-step process that is super easy to do. I don't know, the word "peel" just sounded really difficult to me at first, like it had to be done by someone accredited to do so. Not the case! I have made it a new Sunday night routine, and I can say that my skin is super, super soft afterwards. Very happy with this purchase, especially since I got it on sale.
Why Buy Full Price
Speaking of sales, I'm sure you may have heard that Sephora is running a great sale? Starting tomorrow, you can click this link to get 15% off of your beauty purchase.
Mascara Love & Salon-Lookalike Nails
Sweet Michelle did a post on her cute blog yesterday about two of her new favorites! She took my advice and bought the mascara I love as well as Seche Vite ... and she can attest that they truly are life-changers! Check out her post to read her reviews.
I'll continue to buy way too many beauty products and let you know about them!
i will have to try the bobbi toner, she can seriously do no wrong in my book
ReplyDeleteIsn't the Sephora sale only for VIB people who spend $350 a year or whatever? I thought that is what my email said (yay wedding making me care about makeup and making me a VIB!). I adore the Bobbi Brown tonic. I have used it since I guess 2006 or so and love how it makes my skin feel. Depending on the time of year I will alternate between that one and Clinique Clarifying #2... it just varies due to our Southern humidity as I am sure you understand. I started doing a peel over the holidays and it certainly does make a big difference. I was jaded but the impact is so much better than what I am used to with pore stripes so count me a convert!
ReplyDeleteXO
My skincare and make up needs an update. I don't use a toner, but I probably should!
ReplyDeleteI have always been curious about the toner hype. All the make-up youtubers I watch use it and now that you do I might have to break down and try it.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to pick up some of the Seche Vite and keep forgetting! Do you ever get shellac manis? If so, how does it compare to a gel manI and the length of time your polish lasts?
