Centerpiece Style

Recently my girlfriend asked me for help styling her dining room table. And is there anything more fun than spending someone else's money?

Kidding.  Kind of.

Her style is Southern and traditional but also unique. Most of my ideas for her centered around pieces like apothecary jars, greenery, lanterns, and cloches.  Some of my very, very favorites.

Centerpiece Style

Apothecary Jars
What I love about these is their versatility.  You can keep them empty for a very clean look or fill them with items that mean a lot to you (oyster shells, special wine corks, antique family photographs) or seasonal decor (pinecones, battery operated white lights, jelly beans).  I think these really go the distance for decorating.

Greenery
I have a topiary addiction, I mean heck, we got married between two topiaries.  I especially am drawn to topiaries in vintage-style chippy pots.  Gotta love greenery you can't kill!

Lanterns
I have two giant lanterns flanking our fireplace and I equally love the look of a lantern or two (or three!) in the center of a table.  You could fill them with candles and add sprigs of greenery for the holidays.

Cloches
How much fun is a cloche?!  These look equally great empty as they do filled.  Also extremely versatile.

  2. I love spending other peoples money too! Taking my friends on shopping sprees when they are paying is one of my favorite things.

  8. Great ideas! I also love apothecary jars and lanterns! Our home is filled with them! :)

Since we don't have a large dining area, just a breakfast nook I have a simple candle in the center. Boring! haha I'm looking forward to turning the area into a banquette, pedestal table and two bamboo chairs.

  10. Cute tips. I am a hurricane lamp fan myself, with lanterns being used as low-budget chandeliers in the entry hall and laundry room!
