Suppah Club Ya'll

I know I've mentioned my Supper Club before and how fortunate I feel to be in such a great group of ladies.

And now, I'm going to brag on them once again.

Supper club last Thursday -- the group minus one

Since 2004, we have been getting together monthly, only missing a handful of gatherings due to us all being a little too busy with life.

I'm one of two in the group of eight that is not a teacher, and I'm also the baby of Supper Club.  We've seen lots of fun life changes -- boyfriends, engagements, marriages, job changes, babies.

Now one of our ladies is having a "when it rains, it pours" moment.  Their house, on the real estate market for more than two years, suddenly sold and with a stipulation for them to be out in three weeks.  She'd stopped their house hunt after such a long time of no bites on their home.  Their little family -- Mom, Dad, an infant, and a newborn -- relocated to a small townhome temporarily while they look for their new home.  They feel cramped, and their belongings are split between two storage units.  And then Dad -- he was just diagnosed with cancer.  At the age of 35.  He'll be starting chemo shortly.  The recurrence rate is sadly high.

When we got together Thursday, we all came with a little surprise ... frozen dinners for our girlfriend.  A simple "how are you doing?" was answered with her bursting into tears.  Hugs all around.

I love being part of a group that is so supportive.  We later popped a bottle of champagne and shared lots of laughs.  And then we decided to start taking more pictures of our group ... hence the self-timer photo above, with my camera propped on a table in the den.

I say this a lot, but there really is nothing like good girlfriends.
And good champagne.
And good hugs.

  3. How fun! We are in a little supper club with some neighborhood friends, and I'm constantly brainstorming menu ideas for the next time its my turn to host. That leads me to my first question -- what are some of your favorite menus?

Also, what are some of the frozen dinners people brought? Always on the hunt for new and fun ideas for dishes to bring to new mommas, etc.

Last question - where did you find your dress? Love it!

I hope my questions aren't super annoying!!! Just curiosity.

  10. I am so sorry to hear about the troubles your friend is going through, but I know having you girls around her and supporting her is making a world of difference. Keep by her side...that's the best part of good girlfriends. Your gatherings sound like my Wine-ing Women every month, which I would be lost without. Nothing better than a good group of gals with you!
