Recent Purchases ... Big and Small

We are on our second day in a row of dreary weather. Yesterday it just rained and rained and rained. Today has been more misty but still grey and just wet. So, what do I love to do now that the baby is napping and the house is (somewhat) clean? Peruse blogs! One of my most favorite things to read about is other bloggers' recent purchases. So, here are a few of mine. :)

+ + +

I purchased Camille's kitchen for her big Christmas gift! We were at a playdate yesterday and I nudged her over to Emmy's play kitchen, and sure enough, she took right to it and was opening and closing all of the little doors and playing with the food. Later that day, we were exchanging some items at the mall and she played with the kitchen at Pottery Barn Kids (super cute, but oh-em-geeee PRICEY!). So I had double confirmation in one day that a kitchen would be a well-used and very loved gift.

I mentioned to my friend hosting the playdate that I had the kitchen sitting in my Amazon cart, and she said -- it's on Zulily now for even less! So I hopped right on and ordered it.

Don't forget my Zulily shopping tips that I recently shared in this blog post!

Kate Quinn Organics is one of my favorite lines, and they are on Zulily for the next few days. I mean, look at this little tunic, marked down from $48 to $9.99! (Looks like it's just available in 3-6 months, though). If this fit Camille now, it would be so adorable during the holidays with that little touch of velvet. I think it would look darling with skinny jeans or black leggings.

Now that I've covered my big purchase, a few fun cheapies to share from my recent Target trip.

My friend Justine from Full Hands Full Heart raved about this scent, and when I spied it for $2.99, I quickly tossed it into the cart! It's not available online at target.com, but it was easy to spot in the store near all of the other Glade products -- and this one was featured on an endcap.

I also picked up a new e.l.f. brow kit for $3. I have tried several brow fillers and this is my favorite! Even though I have dark hair, I like the Light kit. Here's a link if you're shopping online, and it looks like all orders currently ship free?!

I love the combination of the powder (which I use at the part of my brow closest to my nose) and the gel, which is great for accentuating the arch. I wasn't blessed with beautiful, thick eyebrows, but this little $3 fix is a great help.

This last purchase to share is silly, but have you ever had a Take 5 bar? My friend Katie was in disbelief that in my 33+ years, I'd never had one. And I looove a good candy bar. She said that they can be difficult to find but that they often pop up at Target around Halloween (this MAY have been the whole reason I went). They are really delicious and feature caramel, pretzels, peanuts, and peanut butter, all covered in milk chocolate. I have no idea how much the bag of these snack-sized bars cost, because although I'm usually cost-conscious, I just added that bag to my cart without even questioning it.

Tomorrow is a big day ... it's the day I get to see the new baby on the big screen again! I have my 18-week ultrasound in the afternoon, and this is the one where they will check all of the organs and make sure that everything is healthy and growing perfectly. This is also the appointment where we have the option of finding out the sex of the baby, but I think we are holding strong to the idea of letting that be a surprise! With this likely being the last Baby R in our little clan, I think it's a fun way of experiencing the pregnancy in a totally different way then when we had Camille.

Boy or girl, I am just so excited to see that wriggly peanut tomorrow and hear that wonderful heartbeat!

  1. Take 5 bars are a favorite here! You should join Kidz Steals and Deals on FB - it's great for deals (they'd mentioned the kitchen a few times earlier in the year too). Camille will look precious her KQ! We're fans of the brand too!

    1. Hey Lindsey! So when we move Camille over to a slightly larger room in the house (now the office), we won't be moving over her changing table. It's going to stay in the new baby's room. So that buys us a little more wall space and we will put her play kitchen there!

  7. We have that same kitchen (scored for <$50 at a local overstock store) and Hadley LOVES it! We built a little playhouse under our stairs to house it and it has seriously gotten daily play time since we got it almost 2 years ago -- and still going strong!

  9. That's a cute kitchen! My girls love playing with theirs but it's not as cute because it's my old plastic one. It does the job though.

  11. Ooo fun day! Excited for you to get to see new babe today! And you go with that strong willpower mama, I think it'd be so fun to not find out gender but alas my control freak planner tendencies won out yet again! Love that kitchen. Camille will have so much fun with that! L plays with hers all the time and the entertainment it provides is well worth all the random toy kitchen crap that I step on regularly!! (and find in the real fridge... which is where she thinks she should put the toy food when we're not paying attention HA!)

(even though she won't be playing with it at 8 months...pre-planning haha) ps I'm linking your baby breeza to my post tomorrow if that's ok! I LOVE that thing - thanks to your post! Happy hump day! xo

  13. Good luck tomorrow at your appointment! It's always so thrilling to see that little nugget on screen and hear that precious heart beat. That's amazing that you guys are wanting to be surprised. I would have loved to do that, but I'm so controlling that I needed to know as soon as possible with both of mine. Lol.

  17. Last year Target had a maple scented Plug In scent that was exclusive to them. I loved it so much I bought all I could find and saved them. I just opened them up this week during this rain in Raleigh. It is the perfect scent since the time change and the great foliage colors outside. I wish I could find some more!

    Prayers for your ultrasound.
