Makeup and Skincare Updates

I know I love to talk about makeup and skincare with girlfriends ... how about you? Here are some quick updates.

I am still loving my Clarisonic Mia 2 (here on Amazon). Around the same time that I started using that nightly, I also implemented the hot lemon water habit and switched my nightly moisturizer for organic coconut oil. I'm not sure which step to attribute it to (or maybe it was the combination of all three!) but I really saw some nice improvements in my skin. I'm not doing the hot lemon water daily any more, only sporadically, because I've really needed plain ol' coffee recently!

It Cosmetics - Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50 in Light #ultabeauty

Thanks to everyone who recommended the It Cosmetics CC Cream. Mine is from Ulta, and if you are shopping online you can go through Ebates you can get 6% back (join here). I love the SPF 50 in this product and it's a heavier coverage look but not a heavier feel. Some days I do switch it up and just wear the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, but I always top my CC cream or tinted moisturizer with this mineral powder. It's been my favorite for years.

I raved about the $3 Elf blush in the bright pink color that's similar to Bobbi Brown Pale Pink, but it has not lasted very long at all, and half of it broke out of the compact. So, as soon as it's dunzo, I'm splurging again on Pale Pink. It's pricier than I'd usually spend but completely worth it -- my last compact of it lasted several years. Which is probably a no-no in the makeup world, but oh well.

One of my aunts is a product junkie like me and we like trading beauty finds. She recently texted me that this L'Oreal Blow Dry It quick dry primer spray is amazing. She said that it doesn't weigh her hair down, that it gives you a salon blow-out look, eliminates frizz, cuts drying time down, and recently earned rave reviews from Allure magazine.

L'Oreal Paris Advance Hairstyle Blow Dry It Quick Dry Primer Spray - 4.2 oz

I tend to think L'Oreal can do no wrong ... that section is my first stop at the drugstore when I am looking for new, lower-priced beauty finds.

Lastly, I've been using a sample of the Aveda Dry Remedy Oil on my hair every day before blow-drying it and really enjoying the smoothness it adds. I'm going to try it for a bit longer before deciding on whether to buy it for myself.

Hit me up with your latest beauty find!

  3. ok, talk to me about the coconut oil on your face! I use mine for cooking, and sometimes a little on my hands, but have been apprehensive about the oiliness on my face. You just use a little the same way you'd use nighttime moisturizer and sleep in it and all?

  4. Ooh good to know re: the blow dry spray! I've been using Ojon Rare Blend Oil Rejuvenating Therapy (got it as a freebie at work!) and it's amazing. It's three oils that are usually separated, then you shake it up like salad dressing (the only image I can conjure) and dot some out onto your hands. It makes my ends so smooth and smells great but isn't greasy or heavy. Also started using Mario Badescu Vitamin C serum in early Jan (happy 30th to moi) and it's absolutely incredible. My skin is brighter and smoother and you use only a tiny bit every two days or so.

  9. I'm going to have to try the coconut oil!! I've been doing lemon water first thing in the morning and coffee a little bit later :). As for the ELF products, I've also found they don't last...I guess you get what you pay for.

  13. I bought the primer spray and after using it realized my bathroom floor was covered in it. I had to mop the floors because they were oily. Do you notice it on your floor or countertops?
