Weekend Beach Trip Recap

Nothing tops a well-deserved long weekend, nothing!

This past weekend we loaded up the cars and headed to Folly Beach, SC, with some of our very best friends.

We got in late Thursday evening -- at that point there were just four of us.  Some delivery pizza, a bottle of red wine, and we were off to bed.

Friday morning we had breakfast at a local coffeehouse (with the most amazing chai tea latte ever) and then took a walk to the lighthouse at the end of the beach.

Ian and I recreated the below picture from 2009, when we'd only been dating for about 3 months.  Now, we're coming up on three and a half years of being together ... and almost a year of marriage.

We returned to the house, and the four of us put our feet up and watched the following:  Bridezillas, Dateline, Saved By The Bell.  Nothing is as funny as getting the commentary from a mixed guys/gals group during the progression of those shows.  And for four people that don't really watch a lot of television, we all thought it was pretty awesome to take the time to just BE.

Also, we knew three other couples were headed down to join us momentarily, and things were about to get wild.

First to arrive was a car of three of the gals, and they stopped off for lunch at Folly Beach Shrimp Company.  I drove out to join them for a beer.

Ian and our friend Casey, who had been enjoying an afternoon beer at Taco Boy, hopped on the skateboards to come join us gals.

They propped their boards up and joined us for a beer.

Our group then grew to the full 10 people and we all ventured to Folly Beach Brewing Co. together.  I ordered my favorite -- a beer flight.  Small(ish) tastings of some of their best brews.

We returned to the house and got ready for an evening in.

A favorite way to spend the evening -- Taboo!  We love playing guys vs. girls.

The stakes were high ... nobody wanted to lose.

Because the losers, me oh my, had to run down the dock and hop into the chilly ocean water.

And naturally, the girls won!  Have fun, boys.

We were lucky enough that evening to see the moon rise.  It was a full moon, and this picture just doesn't do it justice.  It looked huge in the night sky.

Saturday morning we all hit the beach for a while.  Later the guys played ladderball while the gals soaked up the sun on the back deck with strawberry daquiris.

And our mascot, Charlie, rested peacefully.

We got ready for dinner and headed out to downtown Folly once again.

Late afternoon drinks at Snapper Jack's and dinner at Surf Bar -- we were one happy crew.

It was tough leaving yesterday, but a nice Easter brunch at Rita's was the perfect send-off!
